Mr Zurik Returns!!!! 30th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
Yay and double yay!!!
Mr Zurik has returned!!!
I ordered Cubgrub and Lin Li came by to deliver a batch. I opened the door and she said a cat who looks like Zurik was sitting leisurely just outside our gate.
And there he was…..it was Mr Zurik!!!!
YAY!! I scooped him up and gave me a good hug! Yup, still as heavy as before.
I quickly brought him inside the house first before taking delivery of the Cubgrub.
Here he is!!
Tiger greets him.
I brought him into the kitchen with the inten...

Mr Zurik IS Around!! 30th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
Yayyy!!!
Mr Zurik is around and well!
I was out on Monday afternoon but according to our part-time cleaner whom I met today, Mr Zurik did come to our compound on Monday afternoon, but he did not ask for food.
Instead, he just walked in, went to the garbage compartment, jumped onto the ledge and walked to the back, along the ledge walkway.
From there, he must have gone to another house on the road at the back.
Right from the start, a distant neighbour had told us that Mr Zurik comes from the roa...

Daffodil’s New House 29th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
This is Daffodil’s new house. It’s a very small box in the kitchen.
She loves it and spends most of her time in it.
Daffodil’s tumour ruptured yesterday and there were blood stains all over the floor. But other that that, she’s okay. The tumour is shrinking and drying up and it is very flat now.

Tiger Is Back In The War Zone And Indy’s Appeal 29th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
Today is Day 10 of Tiger’s abscess treatment. He’s healing well.
The strange thing is, all of a sudden, yesterday, Tiger wanted to come back to Bunny’s Place!
Yes, we are shocked.
WHY would Tiger, of all people, want to come back to Bunny’s Place???
To the war zone!
But he did and he stayed as well.
Tiger has not been inside Bunny’s Place for MONTHS now. But with his trip back yesterday, he felt totally at home. Not the slightest hint of any fear at all.
There wa...

Mr Zurik’s News 29th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
Mr Zurik was back at Stargate2 on Sunday morning, as usual. He ate and quickly went off, as though he was in a hurry to get somewhere. Later on, he came back and hung around in the porch for sometime.
I even encouraged him to come into the house, but after a short encounter with Tabs, he wanted very much to go out again. He ran to Stargate2 from the inside and asked to be let out.
By Sunday evening, I did not see him anymore.
All of yesterday until right now, I haven’t seen him at all.
M...

Zurik’s Mysterious Disappearance And Fear 26th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
Yesterday, Zurik was not here for breakfast.
Previously, he had gone “missing” for a day or two before, but lately, he’s always been here for at least one meal each day. The longest Zurik had ever gone missing was for 2 weeks and that was almost 3 years ago. He was so frightened by Cow’s screaming that he ran off and did not come back for 2 whole weeks until I was hospitalised for dengue fever and he came back when I returned from hospital.
Those two weeks was the longes...

Tiger’s Abscesses Day 7 26th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
Today was Tiger’s check-up and the vet was very pleased with his healing.
No more flushing is required now. Only the oral antibiotics (one more week) and topical application of povidone iodine and the Polybamycin ointment. Hopefully, there will be no secondary abscesses.
The vet shaved a little bit more upwards just to check and thankfully, there was nothing there.
He also explained that higher up (back of the neck) where I’ve always noticed dry scabs is not reachable by mout...

Tiger’s Abscesses Day 6 (the Soft Mass Is Also An Abscess) 25th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
All the wounds are healing.
And finally, now we know that the soft masses on the side, which joined up and became one big soft mass, is also an abscess.
Either it ruptured or Tiger bit it.
I noticed some liquid oozing out of a tiny puncture hole this afternoon, so I dabbed it all up with some tissue paper. I could press on the mass and liquid oozed out through the puncture hole.
Took a photo and sent it to the vet. The vet said it’s an abscess and I would have to flush it as well. Tige...

Tabs’ Mats 24th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
Tabs has claimed ownership to two mats now!
Looks like Tabs has finally found a mentor now!
Her famous crossed-legs.
A few weeks earlier, Tabs tried to shadow Heidi. When Heidi was in the kitchen, Tabs would be nearby. When Heidi was on the dining table, Tabs would be there too, but guess that mentor-mentee arrangement somehow did not work out. Don’t know why, though.
Well, we all know Heidi. She whacks people. People = humans.
Maybe Daffodil makes a better mentor.
Although Daffodil...

Tiger’s Abscesses (Day 5) 24th Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
I took a photo this morning and sent it to the vet. He was very pleased with Tiger’s progress so there was no need to take Tiger to the clinic today.
Now that the wounds are healing, Tiger must be feeling much better. He goes upstairs at night and sleeps at my foot on the bed. And he also relaxes on the sofa.
Tiger is absolutely cooperative when it comes to eating his medicines and also during the wound-cleaning sessions. He even lets me put on the e-collar without so much as the slight...

The news: http://www.star2.com/living/animals/201 7/08/22/cat-photo-wall-campaign/#7qkU94y37uvPTfqD. 01
It is very heartening to know that neutering and living harmoniously with street cats is catching on now!
Quote:
“We need to rejuvenate and refurbish the city but it’s also home to animals,” Susie points out. “We need to live together harmoniously. That means we have to prevent the population of strays from exploding.”

Tabs Finally “owns” Something!! 23rd Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
When Tabs lived in Bunny’s Place, every time when there is something new (like a new bed or cushion or any item of interest), Tabs would be very curious and would try to use it. But very soon, one of the Cows will take over possession of the said item. All they would do is to come close to Tabs, stare her down and poor Tabs would move away. And from there, Tabs would not be seen near the item anymore. A Cow would own it.
So, Tabs has never been able to own anything interesting while resid...

Tiger’s Abscesses (Day 4) And Vincent’s Monastic Lifestyle 23rd Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
Yesterday morning, I was really happy when I saw that Tiger’s wounds had dried up. That was first thing in the morning.
But before I could take a photo, I guess Tiger bit his wounds and one of them started bleeding again. My guess is, perhaps when it is dried up, it itches, so we can’t blame a cat for wanting to address an itch.
A setback. But a small one, thankfully.
I did the flushing twice yesterday and by evening, the wounds looked okay.
I’m trying not to put the e-collar ...

Tiger’s Abscesses Day 2 21st Aug 2017, by AnimalCare
Thanks to a well-behaved Google Maps, we found out way to the vet’s and back home safely today!! For someone as severely directionally dyslexic as me, this is quite an achievement.
So, how are Tiger’s abscesses today?
Thankfully, according to the vet, it is showing signs of healing…quite well too.
I sent a photo to the vet this morning and he already said it looked better.
Upon a physical examination this afternoon, it certainly appears that the two wounds are healing n...
