Missing Daffodil And Ginger’s Updates 19th Sep 2017, by AnimalCare
Today is exactly a week since Daffodil crossed over to Rainbow Bridge. I still miss her very much and I think of her very often. Whenever I do, it’s a gentle reminder to do some good and acts of kindness and to share the merits with her.
I have always thought that passing of old age is “easier” to bear and to accept, but truth be told, it isn’t. And it wasn’t that I wasn’t prepared or that it came as a shock. It didn’t. The vet already told us Daffi had...

Potpourri Blankets All Ready! (fundraising) 17th Sep 2017, by AnimalCare
We would like to thank Che Khalifa very much for her generous contribution of RM500 for our first two “new generation” potpourri blankets!
The concept now is to use remnant cloth to create blankets so that resources and material are not wasted. Even the tiniest pieces are used. Many of the fabric used was donated by Mr Ooi In Haw for our shopping bag project earlier this year.
A single blanket is approximately 55 in by 75 in and a minimum donation of RM150 would be most appreciated....

A Red-Themed “potpourri” Blanket (fundraising) 15th Sep 2017, by AnimalCare
After publising the photos of the two small potpourri blankets I made for the cats, using remnant cloth, we are pleased that one of our readers, Che Khalifa, decided to order two of such blankets (single-sized, ie. at least 55 in by 75 in).
Here is the first one:
Beauty in chaos!
What we call chaos is just patterns we haven’t recognized. What we call random is just patterns we can’t decipher!
I like chaotic “patterns”.
I’m in the midst of sewing the second one, wh...

4 Homesewn Blankets (fundraising) 15th Sep 2017, by AnimalCare
We would like to thank Mr Ooi In Haw for his generous donation of RM1200 for these 4 blankets for his son. Mr Ooi also donated all the cloth for the top. The backing cloth is donated by my mum’s ex-student and mum sewed all four blankets, as per requested by Mr Ooi who wanted “popo-sewn” (grandma-sewn) blankets for his son.
If anyone is interested in blankets or bags sewn using the following themes of fabric, please do contact me at chankahyein@gmail.com. We have lots of clot...

Playtime For Ginger 14th Sep 2017, by AnimalCare
It’s been heartbreaking watching Ginger mew all over the house yesterday, looking….
We spent a lot of time with him, cuddled him and put him beside us. Daffodil is not around to groom him anymore now, so I have to play the part now. Which I will, of course.
This afternoon, I remember that Ginger loves playing with the silvervine pillows, so I refilled one for him to play with.
Indy and Ginger both detected the scent of silvervine instantly.
Luckily I sewed three.
I even took a vi...

Daffodil’s Remains Are Back 13th Sep 2017, by AnimalCare
Daffodil’s remains are back with us now.
Thank you very much, Pet Memorial, for the compassionate and excellent service.
Later on, we will intern Daffodil’s ashes at the same place as Rosie’s.
I’ve been waiting for a sign from Daffodil. Perhaps a butterfly? Any sign at all? There hasn’t been any.
But as Confucius would say, “Understand earth. Heaven will take care of itself.” We can debate about what happens after death, but nobody REALLY knows w...

The Empty House 13th Sep 2017, by AnimalCare
It felt so, so empty this morning.
The intense sadness and void are setting in.
There was no Daffi on the bed, in the room or at the foot of the stairs to greet us when we came downstairs. There is no Bioresis capsules to be filled (I always filled the capsules fresh for her every morning). No cleaning session. No pilling session. No special feeding session of mixing various foods to entice Daffi to eat.
No Daffodil to take care of anymore.
I felt so, so sad, and I miss her so, so much.
I gave ...

Neutering Aid For 2 Dogs In Serdang (Loretta Chin Foong Jinn’s) 12th Sep 2017, by AnimalCare
We have sponsored RM200 for the neutering of these 2 dogs.
Dear Dr Chan,
I am writing to you for the above purpose.
Background:
I have been feeding a pack of stray dogs (see attached photos) for more than 6 months.During that time, I had posted up the photo of the 2 puppies (siblings) to rehome.
I managed to get an adopter to take in both dogs, so I had them captured with some help, and sent to the vet for spaying, vaccine and deticking.
The adopter is willing to pay partial co...

In Loving Memory Of Daffodil, The Cat-Mother-Of-The-Year 12th Sep 2017, by AnimalCare
There are so, so many sweet memories of Daffodil, but most significant of all would be her extraordinary devotion as a mother to Rosie and Ginger, taking care of them so lovingly throughout her entire life, literally.
She also trained them to be “well-mannered” (that’s just me humanising), but she did.
These photos were taken just last week and I hadn’t even got down to publishing them, but here they are…
The famous Bird Family welcoming committee, whether it&rsq...
