Nomi’s Home!!! 12th May 2024, by AnimalCare
At last, Nomi is well enough to be discharged. She’s home now!!!
Nomi has also been vaccinated.
Nomi has antibiotics twice a day, her movement would have to be restricted and her wound checked to ensure it’s clean and dry. She has also been given transdermal Tramadol as a standby painkiller, if needed. She needs to go back for a check-up in a week’s time.
Nomi’s is the 9th case of diaphragmatic hernia we have helped. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it is...

Nomi, Miao And Nomi’s Siblings 12th May 2024, by AnimalCare
Seeing as how Nick and Aline are new in their caregiving work, we have taken the liberty of offering a few suggestions to them. This is especially because it has been really unfortunate (and also very rare) that both Nomi and Miao were afflicted with diaphragmatic hernia. The chances are so, so slim, and yet, it happened.
We thought we’d share our suggestions here for the benefit of all new caregivers. Diaphragmatic hernia is something we do not wish on anyone at all, but in case it happen...

More Complications For Miao (3rd Trimester Pregnancy) 11th May 2024, by AnimalCare
More complications have set in for Ah Miao.
The vet informed us and the caregivers today that Miao is pregnant and already in the third trimester. This means she is due to give birth in 2 weeks.
It has been 4 months since her last delivery and we know free-roaming unspayed cats can get pregnant again very, very quickly.
Before this, the vet had already concluded that the hernia happened recently, which is after the date of the last video, ie. 24th March 2024. So, this explains why Miao was able ...

Homegrown Guavas! 11th May 2024, by AnimalCare
If you would be so kind as to permit me to digress a little today, here’s sharing some photos of our homegrown organic guavas!
For two people who absolutely have no green fingers, this is our pride and joy!
We planted this tree from a single seed, obtained from an organic guava.
It is amazing, how a single tiny seed grows into a tree!
The guava has a low glycemic index, it a fruit that is suitable for everyone.

Grey’s 2nd Acupuncture Treatment (from Lee Soo Farng) 10th May 2024, by AnimalCare
Yesterday was Grey’s second acupuncture treatment.
According to Soo Farng, the vet says there is improvement in Grey’s condition.
The Methycobal injection into the affected site is effective too.
The vet advised that Grey should only be neutered next year, but he can already be vaccinated.
This treatment is defrayed by Soo Farng herself. She will take care of Grey’s medical expenses from now on. But our Neutering Aid and Vaccination Aid are still available for Grey.
As per pol...

The Monsters And Their “refurbished” Catio 10th May 2024, by AnimalCare
Ever since the reptilian encounter, we cleared off all the pandan, thaumatococcus and jasmines from our front lawn.
We also thinned out the thaumatococcus from the Catio. Ok, I’ll admit it was a bit of a knee-jerk reaction, but I was traumatised.
Well, wouldn’t you have been too, if you were just 1 metre away from a fairly big cobra?
The Monsters were really upset that their Catio had lost its jungle-like atmosphere.
They had no more jungle to nap in.
So, we are letting the jungle gr...

Successful Raw Feeding For Two Days For The Blondies! 10th May 2024, by AnimalCare
The stars were aligned!
I had two consecutive successful days of raw feeding for the Blondies – yesterday and today!
All four ate raw food for breakfast!!
That’s a record breaking feat!
Our ginger girls – why do I still keep using the pronoun “he” for them until now??
Because 75% of gingers are males!
Kai
Indra
Can you see Akira?
Feeding the Blondies raw food is a Blue Zone exercise. They are always far apart – I don’t know why! So I have to go aroun...

Miao Has Diaphragmatic Hernia Too 10th May 2024, by AnimalCare
It never rains, it pours.
After Miao was placed in the oxygen chamber this morning, X-Rays were done which showed that Miao also has diaphragmatic hernia. The vet gave her Aminophylline to open up her airways. She did not draw blood as that would be stressful and if she struggles, it could be fatal with a compromised lung.
Her right lung is compromised.
Now, the aim is to stabilise her first.
Meanwhile, the vet needs to determine whether the hernia is recent or already chronic. To do this, we ne...

Nomi’s Updates (Day 4) 10th May 2024, by AnimalCare
Encouraging news on Nomi from the vet today!
Nomi’s breathing is better today. She is still in the oxygen chamber for lung repair. Today’s X-Ray shows she is slightly better. She is eating well and alert.
Vet suggests she stays hospitalised until the lungs are clear. Only then it is safe enough to go home.
We totally agree with this.
Look at her bright beautiful eyes!
That’s Miao in the chamber below. Updates on Miao after this.
Nomi’s caregivers, Soo Tzan Jian and Teng ...

Reflections On Ah Miao’s Case Of Complications Arising From Medical Procedures 10th May 2024, by AnimalCare
Ah Miao was brought in for a routine spaying procedure yesterday, but it ended up as an emergency where she almost lost her life.
Upon administration of the general anaesthesia, Ah Miao started heaving for breath and stopped breathing. The surgery was immediately aborted but she still stopped breathing a total of three times while being on the table.
When she finally woke up, her breathing was still laboured. Ah Miao was discharged later, after hours, so that she could recuperate at home (there ...
