Vincent Roars! 29th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
It’s as though Vincent knew today was the last day of his antibiotics.
My husband decided to do the “last honours”, so he fed Vincent the last half-tablet this morning. There was a bit of a struggle, though, but finally, the tablet was eaten.
Yay!
Then, when he went out to feed Mr Zurik, Vincent sneaked out and trotted off happily and confidently out of the gate.
“I’m checking out of this hospital. Enough of being confined. Hello, World!!”
After about half an ...

Neutering Aid For 3 Dogs In Cheras (Choo Leh Mie’s) 27th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
We have sponsored RM300 for the neutering of these 3 dogs.
Thanks to Ms Choo’s tireless efforts, the poodle and the second dog have both been rehomed now. According to Ms Choo, the male poodle had complications during surgery, but was resuscitated by the vet. As for the second dog, Ms Choo had noticed her for almost a year (being tied up at the gate) before finally getting the consent of the owner to let her get the dog spayed and now, rehomed.

Back To Square One With Vincent 27th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
As expected, yesterday’s short-lived one-in-a-million success story did not last.
Today, it’s back to a mad struggle in the pilling session.
The peanut butter dough did not work anymore. Don’t know how he did it, but he managed to separate the half-tablet from the peanut butter dough and spit the dreaded half-tablet out.
It’s just two more days of pilling, Vincent.
Then, hopefully you don’t need the antibiotics anymore.
Vincent’s appetite has been very good, ...

Mr Zurik’s Midnight Adventures 26th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
As you know, Mr Zurik has been coming into our bedroom through the bathroom window at night.
And it’s not that he wants to stay in the house too.
He just wants the thrill of being able to come into the house through a “forbidden means” and then, he’d ask to be let out of the house.
Yesterday, he did something different.
At around midnight, he came into our bedroom and mewed to wake us up. Of course this means he wants to be let out. But when my husband came downstairs wit...

A Small Success With The Peanut Butter Dough Today! 26th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
Today, we resorted to the old-fashioned method – just plonking in and holding Vincent’s mouth shut tightly (to make his swallow).
We finished the Baytril (which was more for his flu) yesterday and the vet says since there is just a bit of wheezing and the discharge is colourless, we just need to continue with the dreadful Stomorgyl until Sunday.
Even though it’s half a tablet, the half-Stomorgyl is still big and Vincent seems to hate its smell.
No more mixing it into his food....

Kind Indy And His Cat Pillow 24th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
Remember I sewed new cat pillows for the cats to play yesterday?
Well, this morning, Indy stretched his paw out from the under the grille. This usually means he wants something.
It turned out that Indy was calling for Tabs.
So, we let Tabs into the room and guess what happened?
Indy led Tabs to the new cat pillow – to let her play with it!
Then, Indy went out, so that Tabs could play in peace.
Oooh….yay!
Thank you, Indy, thank you!
You’re a good chap, Indy. You really are.

Vincent And The Peanut Butter Dough 24th Jul 2018, by AnimalCare
My friend, Peggy Tiong, shared that she uses a peanut butter dough (made from peanut butter, flour, milk or water) to wrap tablets and mix it into the food for her difficult-to-pill cats and it works.
I figured I would try that for Vincent.
Bought a small jar of peanut butter. Didn’t have any flour or milk at home, so I would use millet powder instead.
Mixed it and added some water, so it became a dough. Kept it in the fridge overnight. I figured cold might be good.
This morning, I...
