The Three Patients (Vincent, Pole And Ginger) 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Today has been an exceptionally difficult day. Not because I have to look after three “sick” cats and not because I had many chores to do. It’s because of difficult applicants. Sigh…the story never ends. So, let’s talk about them.
How are our three patients so far…
Vincent:
He came down for dinner, but only wanted to drink water.
I offered raw meat and chicken essence. He didn’t want any.
Vincent only had one good meal today.
So, we thought maybe we...

Neutering Aid For 3 Dogs In Kepong (Gaorri Yoong Yen Cher’s) 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
We have sponsored RM300 for the neutering of these 3 dogs.
The first batch of 3 dogs were done last week.
Hello Dr Chan,
I would like to submit my application for neutering of 3 puppies: 2 Female and 1 Male.
They are from the same litter of puppies I submitted for subsidy last week. My neighbor Auntie Janet and I found this litter of puppies in our area, in a lorry workshop near a construction site.
All of the puppies have been successfully adopted after they’re neutered and vaccinated...

Neutering Aid For 3 Dogs In Balakong (Chong Ming Li’s) 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
We have sponsored RM300 for the neutering of these 3 dogs.
Dear Dr Chan,
Hope this email finds you well. I’d like to apply for neutering aid for spaying 3 female puppies. A mother dog came over and gave birth to 9 female puppies 5 months ago. Out of these 9 puppies 4 died and we’ve managed to rehome 2 of the puppies. We sent the puppies to the clinic for the spaying procedure last Saturday. The puppies have been dewormed and vaccinated as well. Please find attached t...

Ginger’s Zurik-Inflicted Wound 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
It was on 6th Sept 2018 (last Thursday) that Zurik beat up Ginger which resulted in a paw wound on poor Ginger.
We brought Ginger to the vet’s that day along with Vincent and at that time, the wound looked quite minor. The vet told me to clean it and apply iodine, which I did, but only on that day.
On subsequent days, I did check on the wound, but it looked like it was healing – just a line.
We should have suspected something wasn’t right, because during the past few days, Ging...

Earth To Houston (Mr Zurik’s Reentry) 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
So the story continues with husband coming back and Zurik still being on the roof.
Looks like it’s a game of seeing who can outlast the other.
If our guess is right, and if indeed Zurik has been on the roof all this while, then it’s already been more than a day of him going without food and water.
The crazy cat…how much longer is he going to do this?
Okay, okay, you win, Zurik.
He was on the roof.
So, husband opened the windows and netting, and invited our friend to come in.
...

Pole Eats, But… 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Pole ate some Monge for lunch, but it was a rather small amount.
She did not want any Cubgrub.
I pray that with sufficient rest, she will recover from whatever she has.
Get well soon, Pole.

Vincent Eats On His Own! 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
I thought I should go out and buy some chicken to make chicken soup again, if only to have its aroma entice Vincent to eat (and IF it still works).
So, I went out and Ming-Yi happened to visit and texted to say that Vincent had gone into the kitchen and seems to want food.
By the time I came back with all the groceries and chicken, the motley crew was in the kitchen, waiting.
It was already 2.20pm, past their lunch time.
And without even having to boil the chicken soup, Vincent was willing to e...

The Staring Game Again (Vincent’s Stories) 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent has not eaten today.
But he came to the kitchen again at about 11.30am.
Offered AD – not interested at all. Offered raw meat – no.
I bought the pet probiotics, Gentle Digest, yesterday. Luckily it’s sold individually at the vet’s here in Subang Jaya. My order of Mercola’s is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, so I only bought 6 capsules.
I thought it would be a good idea to open the capsule, pour out the contents and mix it with come Complivit. It turned out ...

Zurik, Oh Zurik…where Are You? 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Zurik came to our window last night and asked to be let in. Yes, in the middle of the night. He made quite a racket outside the window too. But we didn’t let him in.
But by morning, Zurik did not come for breakfast, so husband got a bit worried.
Is he stuck on the roof…again?
You see, normally, during our green netting days, Zurik would either sneak in through the netting (that’s his game) or he would remain on the roof making pitiful noises until we open the window or netting...

Pole Is Unwell 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
I started noticing it two days ago. Pole seemed unwell. She did eat at every meal, but I remember she didn’t quite finish her share of the food.
But I decided to let her be. Hopefully, it would be a problem that can resolve by itself after some rest.
Yesterday, she looked the same. Ate but didn’t finish her meals.
This morning, she stayed on the pillow in Bunny’s Room and did not join the rest for breakfast at the pantry.
I served her her Cubgrub where she was, but she di...

Breakfast Time 14th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Getting ready for breakfast!
Getting ready to feed Vincent too.
Vincent came to the kitchen and joined everyone but he didn’t feel like eating. He only wanted to drink water. I decided to let him be because he had a good day yesterday with four meals, the last one being at 9.30pm (and it was a big one too, I classified it as an (A+)).
Then, he went up to the landing and sat there.
The day is still young…

Goodnight, Time To Call It Day… 13th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Ever since Vincent’s condition started deteriorating rapidly, I haven’t seen him sleep or rest in this recumbent (stretched out) position. In fact, I actually seldom ever sees him sleeping.
He would always be in the meatloaf position, sitting on his paws.
Today, I saw him sleeping in this recumbent position many, many times.
I’m glad he is able to rest properly.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Vincent.
We will make tomorrow as good a day as we can.
A lullaby for Vincent:
Goodnight...

Zurik Tries To Get In 13th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Zurik found out about the new netting this morning and he decided to put up a protest.
By afternoon, he was up on the roof. Our part-time cleaner came and she reported to me that “Kesian kucing luar tu, dia dah perangkap kat tingkap, tak boleh keluar.”
Yeah, right.
According to her, Mr Zurik was making all kinds of pleading noises, as though asking her for help. She thought he was stuck at the window.
“Dia boleh turun ke?”
I assured her Mr Zurik would be okay.
By ev...

Vincent Eats Again! 13th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
I just came back from taiji and who do you think greeted me at the door?
Vincent!!
He has not done this in a long, long, long time.
There was Vincent, with Ginger, at the door, waiting for me to come in!
And as I came in, Vincent quickly went to the kitchen.
He wanted food!
If he eats, this would be the fourth time today.
Yes, he wanted food! And there was no more chicken soup aroma to entice him (I had already turned off the slow cooker in the evening).
So, he came without any inducements.
It m...
