Xmas, Another Sporo Cat (a Sharing By So Eileen) 23rd May 2024, by AnimalCare
Here is another sharing on a sporo-cat who healed with Yunnan Baiyao.
From So Eileen:
Speaking of Tiger’s case on Sporo with FIV+, I had a rescued cat named Xmas back in year 2017 or 2018. He was infected with Sporo and upon bringing him to the vet for further checking, he was FIV+ too. The vet refused to treat him and advised us to put him to sleep.
The same thing happened with Tiger too. Because he was FIV+, the first vet I took him to refused to treat him as well. I had to take him to a...

Hello Panna!! (updates From Szetoo Yu Ming) 22nd May 2024, by AnimalCare
It was on 8th January 2024 that our auditor, Szetoo Yu Ming, called me to ask if I knew of any clinic that could help Panna, a neutered alley cat. Panna was discovered to have had two injured hind legs, probably sustained when Szetoo and his wife had travelled back to their hometown.
Szetoo had taken Panna to a vet, and was advised to have him euthanised. Of course Szetoo could not bear to do that.
Gangrene had already set in by then and Szetoo was looking for another vet who would be willing to...

We Are Migrating….to A New Domain Name! 22nd May 2024, by AnimalCare
This is long overdue!!
When I started AnimalCare 15 years ago, I tried to purchase the domain name animalcare.org but it was unavailable (already purchased by a USA company – still is).
So, I opted for animalcare.my, the “my” in front to mean “Malaysia” and mind you, this was BEFORE the use of “my” was popularised!
But animalcare.my is such a mouthful and a handful especially when typing and when I tell people we are called AnimalCare, they cannot find u...

Robin’s 3rd Medicated Bath 20th May 2024, by AnimalCare
After Robin’s 2nd bath, we noticed a lot of improvement in Robin’s balding issue. The fur has started to grow back too.
Today is Robin’s 3rd bath with the medicated shampoo, ProHex.
The shampoo has to stay on him for 7 minutes.
I got injured last week, but this week, it was just a mild scratch on the neck. No bloodshed. Phew!
Jayden was here too.
He is actually much, much better now, fur-wise.
Hopefully, the baths take care of the balding issue and we don’t have to go ...

Nomi’s Updates (Day 14 After Surgery) 20th May 2024, by AnimalCare
The vet updated today that Nomi’s wound is closing up slowly. She is still boarded at the vet’s as this was the caregivers’ decision and they are paying for the boarding.
However, Nomi has some soft stools so the vet is giving her Methylcobal to address this. The soft stools could also be due to the antibiotics. She is otherwise eating well and is active.
This photo was taken on Day 12.

Indra’s Run-In With Rey 19th May 2024, by AnimalCare
Indra had a huge fight with Rey this morning.
The “hugeness” of the fight was in the noise, of course.
It was terrifying.
The noise, I mean.
Just the noise.
I had allowed Ginger and the Monsters to cross over to Bunny’s Place after so many days now. Everything was fine…until I totally forgot they were there!
Then, I heard the terrifying, ear-splitting, raucous noise of feline war cries.
I rushed in and saw Rey and Indra, bodies locked, and rolling on the ground. So I sho...

Tabs And Riley 19th May 2024, by AnimalCare
I somehow seldom write about Tabs and Riley…
Both are fine.
Riley still likes to graze throughout the day, but at least I can get her to eat a raw meal by herself every morning. I don’t need to force feed her twice a day anymore.
As for Tabs, she still wants variety. Tabs is a senior, so she gets to eat whatever she wants.
Tabs also has PCKD (polycystic chronic kidney disease) which is a genetic illness. She must have had it all her life without us knowing about it. Tabs is 13 year...

Gerald And Misty 19th May 2024, by AnimalCare
I got a shock of my life yesterday when I came home and “saw” at this spot.
Phew….it’s Misty!
The reptile was found lying along the wall next to the door. Until today, I always check this spot whether I’m coming out of the front door or coming back towards the front door. I don’t know when the imprint of the image is ever going to leave my mind. I was talking with vet the other day and telling her about this experience and she said one was move very, very sl...

Miao’s Updates (Day 7 After Surgery) 19th May 2024, by AnimalCare
Aline bought a new double-storey cage for Miao yesterday.
But since Miao is still under “Restricted Movement Order” for at least two weeks post-op, we suggested that they remove the platforms first. So they have done that now.
From the constipation, Miao now has watery stools. I suggested that they take a photo of the faeces for monitoring (do a “poop album”) and also to show the vet but this was not done. However, they will do it now.
Meanwhile, Miao looks good, ha...

Nomi’s Updates (Day 13 After Surgery) 19th May 2024, by AnimalCare
The following are updates from the vet:
Nomi’s incision site looks better now. Suture already removed today. Skin is not fully apposed, but is healing well.
Today she has diarrhea, so the vet started her on a probiotic. Her appetite is good.
Her incision site will take few more days to recover. As long as there is no discharge, should be ok to monitor it at home. Once the diarrheoa becomes better, she can be discharged to go home.
Yesterday’s photo.
The post Nomi’s updates (Da...
