Pacifying Ms Poldrey Hepburn 23rd Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
So, yesterday, Pole got a fright when I used the Biosilver spray on her instead of the syringe method. She leapt off the table and was very upset.
This morning, it was time for her quarter-Baytril (it is SO tiny) and Vetri DMG, and if we are lucky, maybe we could syringe in some Biosilver for her gingivitis as well.
She was okay with the Baytril and definitely NOT okay at all with the Vetri DMG. I do wonder why…. None of our cats mind the Vetri DMG. It’s tasteless. Pole pushed...

“Prosperity Is Being Able To Eat” 22nd Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent asked for food at 5pm.
And he had a meal fit for a king!
Ginger, Tabs and Heidi had Cindy’s Recipe for dinner. Of course Vincent smelled the aroma and he got excited, so I offered it to him as well. He didn’t want it.
He only wanted his raw meat.
Smart boy, eh? He knows what’s good for him.

Tadahh….180ml And We Finished The Whole Bottle! 22nd Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Here we go…live-streamed to his vet, his best friend.
https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content/uploa ds/2018/09/subcut-2-video.mp4
Vet says to try and hit 180ml
Absolutely no struggle at all today. We are in luck.
Many thanks for all your good wishes.
https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content/upload s/2018/09/subcut-3-video.mp4
There was a bit of sun coming in through the curtains and I thought that might just work in our favour because the vet explained why a cat usually starts fidgeting when more...

More Variety For Vincent 22nd Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
The things we do for our cats!
I ordered three flavours of Cindy’s Recipe (with broth) for Vincent. I was quite motivated by Vincent’s interest in Monge this afternoon. Maybe he is ready for some variety. Cindy’s is grain-free and contains taurine. It’s not a complete food, it’s complementary, but I know it’s made from quality human-grade ingredients.
I started with the Tuna with Katsuobushi, something exotic, Vincent? I thought i...

Inching Back To Normalcy? 22nd Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent did a staring game when I came home from Stretch Therapy today. I offered some food and he stared. Nothing new. After 5 minutes of staring at the food, at me, back at the food, etc’, I kept the food.
Then, just now, at 12.30pm, Tabs and Heidi were hungry. Granted, they had a very early breakfast today. So, I decided to serve Monge Tuna with Chicken today.
Vincent came too, and I offered him his (now) staple diet of raw meat and a slice of liver. I didn’t bother offering...

Vincent Eats 22nd Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
He was finally ready to eat at 7.40am. I could read the body language!
I gave him a fresh batch (not laced with probiotics and certainly no Bone Meal). He ate.
Then, it was time to add more – I decided to add a few pieces from last night’s which may have a teeny weeny bit of probiotics.
He sniffed at it and was about to reject it…
https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content/upl oads/2018/09/morning-2.mp4
Really, Vincent?
No, please, just eat it.
I don’t want to be an old grandm...

I Need Techie Help, Please 22nd Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Update: Found an alternative way to go around it, but if anyone has a better solution, please do share.
The original post:
I need techie help, please.
To do AnimalCare work, many of our applicants send photos through Whatsapp and I would lift these photos off from WhatsappWeb onto my laptop, store them and upload into the blogpost. This saves A LOT of time, considering the numerous applications we get daily.
But this morning, when I lifted off photos from Whatsapp, the photos ...

Pandan Stories 22nd Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Found Vincent at the pandan early this morning.
Looks like Vincent likes “steps”.
We had to do the pilling early today because husband had to go to work early.
Ginger first – as usual, no problems at all. Then, I decided to just try using the Biosilver spray directly instead of spraying into a bowl and syringing it up to use.
Sprayed onto both sides of his mouth (just lift the lips and spray). Oh goody…Ginger didn’t even flinch!
Great, great!
Next was Vincent&rsqu...

Just A Wee Little Bit, Vincent… 21st Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent wanted to eat and it was almost 11pm.
He came into the kitchen on his own.
Eating his usual raw meat and organs.
Now, without organs, he will not eat the raw muscle meat.
Then, I took a risk…
I know bone is missing from Vincent’s diet and he has refused to eat chicken neck. I have this Bone Meal which I use for making our home-cooked catfood. It has calcium, it just doesn’t have bone marrow, but it’s better than having no calcium at all.
So first, I added ...

Cow Takes Charge 21st Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Indy was making another snack call and when Indy makes a racket, he does a really good job at it.
Soon, Bunny decided to chime in as well, making it an even bigger racket.
It was already 10pm and they have had their supper.
So, husband went in and scolded the two.
Then, Cow helped!
He charged at Indy and Bunny and growled.
We didn’t manage to catch it on video, but here’s the last part (the aftermath):

Some Reflections – To Force Or Not 21st Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Did you listen to the entire interview between Dr Karen Becker and Dr Lisa Pierson on feeding CKD cats?
Dr Pierson’s voice (over the phone) was quite soft, so I had to strain my ears to listen.
In the last part, they talked about respecting the cat and not forcing the cat into doing or eating whatever s/he doesn’t want.
Never force.
Respect the cat.
Both vets totally agreed on that.
I can’t say I disagree either. I do like the part about respecting animals. I really do.
So, it ...

5 Dangerous Homemade Catfood Mistakes 21st Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
A sharing:http://www.naturalcatcareblog.com/2016/04/ 5-dangerous-homemade-cat-food-mistakes-how-to-avoi d-them/
Serious homemade cat food mistakes to avoid
Here’s what many of us get wrong if we aren’t fully informed before attempting to make cat food:
Mistake 1: Not supplementing with taurine – even with raw food
Serious heart and eye conditions have appeared in cats fed diets containing insufficient taurine. Cats cannot synthesize enough taurine to meet their needs, so tauri...

Neutering Aid For 3 Cats In Puchong (Yew Wai Hoong’s) 21st Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
We have sponsored RM180 for the neutering of these 3 cats.
Ms Ashley Yew is a new applicant. The two white male cats are the sons of the tabby, and they have been adopted with the help of the vet. Ms Yew is adopting the mother-cat along with her daughter.
Dear Dr. Chan,
Hope this email finds you well.
I have neutered 3 kitties and would like to claim for the fund. My name is Yew Wai Hoong. One week ago, I have rescued a mother cat and her kittens behind the street of my stay. There are...

The Evening 21st Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
After the successful 200ml subcut today, Vincent seemed happy.
One step up…Yay!
https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content /uploads/2018/09/2-1.mp4
Vincent asked for food at about 4.40pm. There was some staring first, and I just left him with the food after which he ate.
https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content/uploads/2 018/09/3.mp4
The sound of happiness is the sound of Vincent chewing his raw meat happily.
I just shared a short 13 min video of Dr Karen Becker talking about managing CKD cats. She ...

The Moment Of Truth!! (the Subcut At Noon) 21st Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
It was time for the subcut. Today’s would be the first of this new plan of doing subcut for three days continuously to see if it’s beneficial to Vincent.
I brought all the paraphernalia up to Ming-Yi’s room. It would be a totally “new” environment for Vincent as this room is seldom used. The door is always closed so it’s unfamiliar to him.
I couldn’t find the velvety cloth which the vet uses (she says most cats like that cloth), so I used a towel.
We ar...

Vincent, The Kung-Fu Exponent And Pole 21st Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Was hoping Vincent would eat Cubgrub (then my worry about a balanced meal would be over), but no. He didn’t want it. Just walked away. Maybe associates Cubgrub’s smell with being sick.
https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content/uploads/ 2018/09/WhatsApp-Video-2018-09-21-at-06.58.55.mp4
He went for his raw meat and organs, laced with probiotics. He still doesn’t eat chicken neck so we are short of calcium. I could try bone meal, which I use to make home-cooked catfood. But even to me...

The Open Air 21st Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
I woke up at 5am this morning, came down the stairs and could not find Vincent.
Ever since Ginger spends the night on our sofa (since he was declared “sick” by the vet for his Zurik-inflicted paw wounds), we have had to leave a gap to enable Ginger to go out to the patio at night. Ginger cannot use the litter box because he is a bit too big. We have many places for the cats to pee and poo out in the patio. There’s also Tiger’s old sandpit there.
I looked all over the hous...

It’s A Long, Long Way Up….(but We’re Right Here For You, Vincent!) 20th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent’s chosen place was the top of the landing of our staircase for many days.
Then, since yesterday, he started migrating down, step by step!
It was really strange. Each time, he came downstairs, he would go back up to rest, but it would be a step (or a few steps down).
This morning, he reached “rock bottom” – the last step. He came back to this last step many times today.
We all wondered what he would do next. Would he find a new spot somewhere else in the house?
Her...
