Neutering Aid For 3 Dogs In Lumut (Mohd Khalil Sofi Bin Harun’s)
1st Oct 2018, by AnimalCare

We have sponsored RM300 for the neutering of these 3 dogs. Good Morning Dr Chan, I’ve found this 3 dogs near old Manjung district. All looks strayed for a long time but they look in a good condition. No puppies around so it makes easier to rescue. At the moment all dogs have been kept in the clinics for recovery and will be release back to its place. I’ll do the daily feeding for them because its nearby and along the way to the other locations. Thanks for your aid. May god bless y...

I Concede Defeat (Spider-Cat Wins!)
1st Oct 2018, by AnimalCare

I’ll let the video speak for itself… https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content /uploads/2018/10/WhatsApp-Video-2018-10-01-at-14.4 5.40.mp4 Look at how smart he is. He is using the gap on the right where there is no netting. Cats should rule the world, you know. Okay, Indy, here’s the deal: If you behave and do NOT spray, you can stay and we will remove yesterday’s reinforcement (to make it easier for you to climb in and out). Indy: Easier? Ha ha ha… But….if you ...

An Official Ban On Soil-Eating!
1st Oct 2018, by AnimalCare

The vet texted today that Vincent is to be kept away from the soil. So, it’s official now, Vincent – NO MORE soil-eating. Luckily we were one step ahead and had already pebbled-up all the “soil-y” areas. Vincent’s lunch of Cubgrub’s Rabbit and Chicken. I added some Quail as well, but he didn’t seem to like it much.

No More Soil, Vincent
1st Oct 2018, by AnimalCare

I woke up at 5am this morning and found Vincent just coming out of our bathroom. He knows how to use the bathroom. A little sad, though, because if he had just used the bathroom, there was absolutely no smell at all. This is the time we WISHED our cats’ urine smelled. The smellier, the better (it shows the kidneys are doing their work of concentrating the urine). So, our alpha amigos who stink up the pantry every day – ok, a small blessing. They can still stink up the pantry.  T...

Vincent Eats!
30th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

We went out for dinner and also to buy more liver for Vincent. When we came home, Vincent came downstairs, went out to the patio and must have found he couldn’t eat soil anymore, so he came in and came into the kitchen. I offered him the freshly bought liver. MAKAN!!! After the liver, he went for Cubgrub (rabbit), but he didn’t finish. A consolation for Indy (after failing to get in) – he gets Cubgrub Rabbit too. Vincent didn’t have enough, so I gave him Cindy’s...

Project Spider-Cat 2
30th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

Project Spider-Cat 1 happened about 6 years ago when Indy made his historic escape from the (then) new cat fence in Bunny’s Place when we first moved in. The classic greatest escape of all time: https://myanimalcare.org/2013/03/18/ind ys-escape-exposed/ Today, we have Project Spider-Cat 2. But it’s a relatively small project compared with No. 1. You see, when we first moved here, the deal was that we would have a room, a pantry and the entire backyard for the cats (we brought al...

Project Pebble (to Prevent Soil-Eating)
30th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

So, I was trying to figure out how to prevent Vincent from eating soil again…my friend, Cathy, gave me a brilliant idea – use pebbles to cover the soil! Cathy is always full of brilliant ideas. If you remember she came to help me Daffodil-proof Stargate2. So, off we went to Sg Buloh to buy pebbles. The pebble store was already closed, but another store which we often go to was still open and they had pebbles but only of one size and two colours – white or “black” ...

Vincent Eats Again!!!
30th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

I was really hoping that today’s vomiting was just a minor setback and nothing serious or related to a deterioration of his kidney condition. The vet did ask us to give Vincent 2ml of Lactulose. It was time for Vincent’s antacid and Tramadol (the cream). So I took a chance and brought a can of Monge upstairs. I look at what we have (Vincent doesn’t eat kibble – smart cat), and he just ate Cindy’s this morning plus he’s been having a lot of raw food too. I reme...

Vincent’s Subcut
30th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

It was time for Vincent’s subcut. Everyone else had lunch but Vincent didn’t want any. He walked away from raw food before I could offer anything else, so I didn’t want to force it. I remember this theory from his first vet (which has proven true) that once there is vomiting, the cat associates being sick with the smell of that particular food, so it may be necessary to change the food for awhile until that association is no longer strong in the cat’s memory. This has wor...

Vincent’s Morning, And The Vomiting
30th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

All prepared for breakfast at 6am this morning. Vincent came down with everyone, but he didn’t want to eat. That’s strange… Instead, he went out to the patio. I suspect he went to eat soil because when I went to look for him, he was licking his lips as though he had just finished eating something. A bit of good news, Heidi was willing to lick some raw food this morning. Just a bit. Shortly, Vincent came in and I offered him his usual raw food (I had laced it with probiotics)...

Thank You Very Much (September 2018 Donors)
30th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

What a month it has been!! We are still drawing on our reserves so it’s time that we have to ask for your support again. On the average, we are short by at least RM5000 every month, but luckily we have reserves so we have been surviving on this since January this year. Our monthly donations are insufficient to cover the number of claims we pay out every month. This has been happening since last year, actually. We also have not been holding auctions anymore because I don’t really have...

Drum Roll………….!!
29th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

I weighed Vincent before dinner tonight… It’s amazing!! There was a time just last week when I did wonder if he would ever hit 3.0kg. Of course part of this weight gain is definitely due to the hydration (from the subcut fluids) but there is also definitely gain in muscle mass. The Fortekor is working! It prevents protein loss from the kidneys. This is Vincent’s new den upstairs. https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content/uplo ads/2018/09/27-video.mp4 I think this is Vincent&rsquo...

Trying Out Cubgrub’s Quail, And The Subcut
29th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

Today, we tried out Cubgrub’s Quail (it has no chunks). Vincent asked for lunch at 11.44am, so I gave him his rabbit. I hadn’t decided to try the quail yet as I wasn’t sure if it was properly thawed yet. I also added some cuts of liver and heart which Vincent happily gorged! This is just in case he is anaemic, which I do doubt. When Vincent had already finished eating, I was keeping all the food and realised that the quail had thawed. Cow Clan had not been fed yet, so I though...

Vincent’s Morning
29th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

Vincent had breakfast at 5.30am and that consisted of mostly Cubgrub’s Rabbit (which he loves), a bit of Coco&Joe’s Turkey (which he also loves) and Cubgrub’s Chicken. By the way, Coco&Joe’s is launching their latest flavour, ie. Turkey, at the Matrade Cat Fair next weekend. Watch out for it!  And we will also be selling it for fundraising!  However, we do have a problem with delivery as the barf has to be in a frozen state. So, we can only deliver if it...

A Message From Vincent
28th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

It has only been 7 days since I brought Vincent last Sunday to see this vet and he was given a new treatment plan. Look at the vast improvement in his condition! What did the trick? I don’t know, but I think it was the Tramadol painkiller which numbed the pain in his mouth and enabled him to lick food again, and of course, most important of all, the increase in the subcut fluids from 150ml to 250ml. We only did 250ml for three days, now it’s down to 200ml. Vincent’s pinch test...

Vincent’s Turkey Supper!
28th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

Vincent wanted to eat again! Well, okay, if he wants to eat, he must be hungry…. Ginger: If that’s turkey, may I have some too?  Tabs: Is turkey a bird? If so, I can eat it, right?  Yes, of course, of course! Vincent ate a whopping meal again – CJ’s turkey and CJ’s chicken. Guess how much he weighs today? Hint: He has eaten SIX meals today.

Vincent’s Mega “dim Sum”
28th Sep 2018, by AnimalCare

True enough, Vincent came downstairs for supper shortly after the motley crew ate. Vincent and Bunny would finish the whole jar of rabbit in just one day! Most of it would be eaten by Vincent. I scooped all the last bits for him. Me no eat rabbit. No.  No. No rabbit for me. It was a huge bowl that I scooped out. Vincent didn’t finish it all, so I tried it with Pole (who was waiting at the grille – no, Pole thought it isn’t food). So I gave all of it to Bunny. Bunny eat...
