Of Whiners And Squawkers 21st Oct 2018, by AnimalCare
I just learnt a new word today – squawker! I was looking for synonyms for whiners for the subject of this post.
Right now, Ginger is whining all over the house again – I think he wants his dim sum, but no, I’m not giving it to him since he has already eaten breakfast. I got up at 3.45am today because I have so much to do. I need to finish marking test papers, I have to work on the next blanket and there are claims to pay out.
This morning (that’s at 3.45am), Vincent happi...

Vincent’s Updates 20th Oct 2018, by AnimalCare
This is going to be a long update. It covers from Thursday night till now (Saturday night).
During the last visit to the vet’s on Wednesday, the vet suggested that since Vincent won’t eat the renal diet, I’m to give him homecooked, canned and raw (in that order, with raw being the last option).
You know how it is that Vincent “listens” to the vet, right? Time and time again, he has proven to do so.
So, after that clinic visit, he didn’t want to eat raw anymore...

How Ginger Annoys Bunny And Cleo (and Everyone Else!) 20th Oct 2018, by AnimalCare
This is how Ginger does it:
https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content/uploads/20 18/10/WhatsApp-Video-2018-10-20-at-06.43.51.mp4
Th is is how Bunny responds:
https://myanimalcare.org/wp-content/uplo ads/2018/10/WhatsApp-Video-2018-10-18-at-10.57.01. mp4
Bunny finds the whining very annoying.
I think Ginger is either attention-seeking or he wants to go out to the porch to sit under the cars, but Zurik is outside and Ginger had been attacked by Zurik a few times resulting in wounds that required antibio...

Reviving The Blanket Auctions!! Blanket No. 202: Wisteria Bleu! 18th Oct 2018, by AnimalCare
Our last blanket was sold early this year and our auctions ended months before that. I had to take a break because I wasn’t well for many months. However, we need to raise funds again as the number of applications have been overwhelming each month. We have been digging into our reserves since last year and our reserves will be depleting really fast if we don’t replenish the funds!
At the end of last month, we made an appeal to all our readers. We know there are so many readers who fo...

Of Anecdotes, Testimonials And The Placebo Effect 18th Oct 2018, by AnimalCare
I’ve been researching “cures” and treatment for Vincent’s kidney disease and came to this, which I simply have to share, because it’s definitely food for thought: http://skeptvet.com/Blog/2016/10/why -anecdotes-testimonials-cant-be-trusted/
And I have to share this picture too (because it’s so funny!):
It’s good to share and it certainly is good to learn, but ultimately, what works for one need not necessarily work for another. So, it’s all a...

Vincent’s Check-Up After One Month 17th Oct 2018, by AnimalCare
Today was Vincent’s check-up after one month on treatment at this vet.
First, the vet is pleased with his weight gain. Based on the records at this clinic, using their scale, Vincent’s weight has gained steadily from 2.6kg to 3.1kg, then 3.3kg and today, 3.6kg. The vet says this is already considered very good. She doesn’t expect Vincent to go up to 4.0kg, with his kidney issues.
Vincent also looks so much better, is “meatier” too. However, he is still dehydra...

Vincent At His Table 15th Oct 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent sat at his table today…after the longest time ever!
This used to be Vincent’s Table. In fact, the table is named thus.
Subcut 180ml today. A single-handed job.
I think Vincent ate 7 times today! Today, he wanted canned food and raw food. I add calcium powder, wheatgrass powder (which he absolutely loves) and probiotics to the canned food. No kibble today – he didn’t want any of it.

Vincent Sniffs Out “new Food”! 15th Oct 2018, by AnimalCare
Sorry for not being able to write updates as often as before. A few reasons, actually.
Firstly, Vincent’s condition seems to be “stable” now, so there isn’t anything new to report. Secondly, I’m busy sewing blankets as I’m hoping to restart the auctions, if anyone is interested? If not, maybe just sell the blankets then. We need the funds!
Thirdly, and most excitedly, yesterday, I was busy guiding a friend to nurse a newborn kitten, seemingly abandoned by the ...
