How Can We Raise More Funds? 8th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
This month started off so well with the RM5380 raised from the Stretch for Good workshop (thank you, Stretch Therapy Malaysia and all participants). The RM5380 will last us about 7-10 days of paying out claims, which is a big, big help.
You might remember too that we have been living with a shortfall of about RM5000 each month. Well, for this year, our biggest shortfall was about RM12,000 in March. That was scary!
As for now, this RM5380 raised from the workshop will cover the shortfall from mid...

Gems Of Wisdom From A New Rescuer 8th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Mr Ho is a new rescuer from Ipoh. He’s the one I was very impressed with, not only because he endeavoured to learn as much as he could on how he can help street animals effectively, he is also incredibly well-mannered and polite.
Such a gem, really.
When he first contacted me to apply for neutering aid, he not only sent me photos of the areas and dogs whom he feeds, he even sent videos as he drove his motorbike up to these areas on this evening rounds after work, carrying bags of kibble fo...

An Update From Kelantan 8th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
If you are one of our followers, you will know the number of applicants who come through us on a daily basis. Now, we have more applicants from other states and this is really very encouraging.
Mr Lim is one of our applicants from Kelantan and he is an elderly dog rescuer. We helped him with the neutering of his rescued dogs and recently, he sent this update.
Of course we assured him that rehoming (to a safe and good home) is much better than leaving the animals homeless. In this case, Lu...

A Truly Enjoyable STRETCH Session Today (and We Raised RM5380!) 6th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
What a wonderful session we had at today’s Stretch Therapy session! It was a good mixture of fun, laughter, goodwill and of course, lots of stretching!!
First, we must thank Wai Kuan and Chi-Chang, the instructors at Stretch Therapy, for choosing us as the beneficiary of their very first Stretch for Good project. This centre opened in Sept 2017. They offer pro-bono classes for the blind, and now, they are embarking on more CSR projects. Kudos!! True to the principle of good business practi...

Fish Oil For Vincent 6th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Fish oil is known to be beneficial in many ways to humans, dogs and cats.
5 Great Benefits of Fish Oil For dogs and cats. EPA, one of the two omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, acts as an anti-inflammatory. It will help with any condition that causes inflammation of the heart, kidneys, skin, and joints—such as arthritis.
I wanted to add additional fish oil to Vincent’s diet, so I tried yesterday (half expecting him to turn away and walk out), but no…that did NOT h...

Bunny’s Portraits (eat And Be Merry!) 5th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Bunny is 12.5 years old now, and he is FIV+ too. He is from my very first rescue, with Cow and Pole. Bunny, we believe, must be the youngest as he had always seemed a little “lost” and pampered! They were total newborns when rescued because Pole only opened her eyes 10 days after they were rescued, followed by Cow and of course, Bunny was the last to open his eyes.
Of course he is totally pampered by his favourite human!
(For those who are observant, ther...

Vincent Bagheera’s “Rosie” Blanket And Updates 5th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent has migrated onto the bed now!
This is now HIS room and HIS bed (and yes, Ginger is not very happy about it).
This blanket was a very thoughtful gift of love and friendship from one of our donors shortly after Rosie passed away. I was devastated and traumatised. This kind donor bought all the fabric (note the rose print) and commissioned us to sew this large blanket for her. She even gave me the design and specifically said she wanted a patch of rose in the centre. Of course I sewed it ...

Gold-D Goodies For The Cats 1st Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
I ordered some Gold-D goodies for the cats and they arrived on the very next day.
A new treat for Vincent!
I bought the non-tuna seafood mix so that I get three flavours (salmon, mackerel and sardine). These three flavours contain taurine and prebiotics.
I also ordered three scratch pads.

Vincent’s Subcut (the Floating Hand Technique) 1st Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent has been very good during subcut these days. I have no complaints whatsoever and am able to handle it all alone.
On cold days, I need both hands to handle the subcut because I can feel that the fluids under the skin is cool (and the weather is cold), so it helps if I put my whole hand onto Vincent’s skin to help keep his warmer. This helps a lot.
On hot days, I have to apply to “floating hand technique”!
As you can see, my hand is “floating” so that t...
