Vincent, At Dawn 22nd Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
I woke up at 4am today. Vincent was on his bed. He has been using the litter box, so that’s good.
I went downstairs to prepare for everyone’s breakfast but Vincent did not come down.
So, after serving everyone, I decided to bring Vincent downstairs. He should get out of bed a bit.
It’s back to those days again (sigh). He wants to eat, but I don’t know what he wants. I tried his previous-favourite Cindy’s Tender Chicken – no. Renal wetfod (whose gravy he likes...

Vincent’s Selfies And Dinner 21st Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
We took wefies today!
Vincent really likes his minky cloth!
For dinner, I decided to surprise him with Recovery, but he only ate a bit.
I also prepared raw meat and liver, which he also ate…a bit.
Then, he wanted the raw meat and liver together.
Heidi watching.
He had some Monge as well.
But just a bit too.
Just a moderate dinner. Good enough.
The vet said the appetite stimulant might take a day to kick in.
Tomorrow will be another day.

Raw Liver To The Rescue!!! (Vincent Eats!) 21st Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
I tried to keep as calm as I could, especially in front of Vincent. I went to check on him many times this morning. He was lying down on the bed.
I offered a bit of food again, but he did not want to eat any of it. So I let him be. No point forcing him, especially when he hates being forced. A soldier has his pride.
But while I was hanging up the clothes, I cried. I couldn’t help it. As prepared as I thought I would be….is it happening now? We have been through so much, V...

Vincent 21st Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent ate his last full meal yesterday at 6am. It wasn’t exactly a “jackpot” meal as he didn’t seem much interested in the food, but still, he did eat a mixture of canned, Cubgrub, Primal, etc. It was a fair amount, nonetheless. But I had to go spoil it all by putting a bit of fish oil into the last portion (I had not given fish oil for some time now), and he walked away from it. I guessed it wasn’t time to reintroduce the fish oil yet.
It has not exactly been eas...

Vincent’s Updates 20th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
It’s been a few days since I last wrote about Vincent.
And it’s been very hectic too – implementing our new policies and identifying who the “serial” claimants are, and talking with them, one by one. But more about that later.
Vincent has migrated from the bedroom to this spot at the patio.
He seems to love it so much.
We are not sure if Ginger gave him trouble in the bedroom too. Furthermore, it’s Ginger’s Carebears blanket (already laundered cl...

Ginger’s Bullying Continues – Caught In Action 17th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
I was getting ready for Vincent’s subcut today. Ginger marched into the room to inspect everything.
Ginger: I’m staying to watch.
But Vincent wasn’t in the room. He had probably gone downstairs, so I went down to look for Vincent. Ginger followed me down too and we found Vincent drinking water at the patio. As I was about to go out to carry Vincent in (to take him upstairs), Ginger beat me to it. He surged ahead of me, lunged onto the chair (Vincent was under it) and made a lou...

Cow Mau’s “vicious” Attack On Bunny Bun Buns 17th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Two nights ago, Bunny was found to be hyperventilating. He was panting with his tongue out and that lasted for quite sometime. If it had gone on longer than an hour, I would have carted him to clinic under emergency already. I read that while dogs pant, cats should not.
We put on a tshirt for him, and later, even the Thundershirt, but it did not help. There was also a bit of thunder that night, but normally, Bunny had never ever been disturbed by thunder or lightning, so we didn’t know why...

The First Cushion Casualty And Ginger’s Jealousy 17th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
So, Vincent had two velvety cushions – the happy sunflower and the big paw.
But Ginger has been very jealous of Vincent for a few weeks now. He had been going up and down the stairs to check out Vincent’s things in the room. I even caught Ginger going up onto the subcut table to check out the fluids.
As far as Ginger is concerned, it just isn’t fair, you know.
How come Vincent gets all kinds of foods, how come he gets to eat all the time, and he gets subcut every day? What abo...

Food Galore And Some Vincent-News 16th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
It looks like some sumptuous North Indian cuisine, but it isn’t!
That’s Primal, Gold-D and Coco&Joe’s.
And if you think that’s a lot of choices for one meal, what till you see what Vincent is offered on a daily basis! Yes, up to 7 types, sometimes.
Yesterday morning, he didn’t want any of his favourite Cindy’s Tender Chicken (and help!…I had laced it with Azodyl already), so I took a chance and pour in some RC renal kibble and guess what…he...

A Note From The AnimalCare Exco (republishing) 14th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
This was published in July 2017 and we would like to republish it in view of our new policies in Dec 2018.
It is now almost 10 years that AnimalCare has existed and we are heartened to see that we have helped to build a large community of caregivers of street animals who do neutering work, which in turn has increased the public’s appreciation and acceptance of neutering.
Even so, we believe it is timely for AnimalCare Neutering Fund to tighten our policy and deploy our limited funds more e...

Neutering Aid For 1 Dog In Lahat, Ipoh (Ho Chin Keong’s) 14th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
We have provided an aid of RM100 for the neutering of this dog.
We also wish to thank Mr Ho very much for his thoughtfulness. He had actually had 3 dogs spayed this round, but when he heard about our financial difficulty, he immediately texted me through voicemail to withdraw the claim of two of the dogs. He said he would endeavour to pay for the other two by himself.
Even before this, when Mr Ho first started claiming which was just last month, he already informed us that he will only claim now...
