Neutering Aid For 1 Dog In Balik Pulau, Pulau Pinang (Ng Yuet Hui’s) 27th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
We have provided an aid of RM100 for the neutering of this dog.
Dear Dr Chan,
This is my second time applying for neutering aid.
I would like to apply for the neutering aid for a female brown dog, named Meredith. As per my knowledge, she has given birth twice before. She is one of the many stray dogs from a nearby orchard in Air Putih, Balik Pulau (Penang). She comes by my house backlane for evening meals. Recently I was able to catch her and spayed her on 15 November with 2 nights ve...

Vincent Eats!!!!! 27th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
I don’t know if this is a one-off thing like that big bowl of liver that he devoured, but all we have are moments, so here are this morning’s happy moments.
I got up at 3am this morning because it rained. Last night, Vincent chose to sleep at his favourite soil patch, so we decided to let him. It’s good that he wants to be with Nature too.
Since it suddenly rained, and very heavily too, I quickly rushed downstairs to see to Vincent. He was faster than me, though, he had already...

Vincent – Still Not Eating 26th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
This morning’s breakfast.
This is the antacid, it’s a better one than the previous. I have to break open the capsule and divide the granules into 6 parts.
Because he has not been eating, Vincent is so emaciated now. He is losing weight daily and he looks so sunken.
It breaks my heart to see him this way.
Force-feeding stresses him so much, so I just offered the food this morning.
He did lick one slice of liver, that’s all. He did not eat anything.
All were not right.
Aft...

Vincent Licks Some Gravy, But… 25th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
I remember the last time this happened. Vincent is so sensitive that he develops this “food repulsion” tendency where he associates his illness with the food. And he will get turned off by that food, hence, he won’t eat.
The “trick” at that time, was to give him something totally different. That worked…at that time.
So this afternoon, I decided to try my luck.
I was preparing the other cats’ food so before serving them, I just offered it to Vincent. I d...

Vincent To The Vet’s (1st Darbepoetin Jab) 25th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
We took Vincent to the vet’s this morning.
On the way there.
We were the first patient of the day.
The vet checked Vincent’s mouth thoroughly and while there was some pus in certain areas, the mouth, as far as we could see, isn’t that bad. So, perhaps it is the esophagus and the digestive tract. Maybe it’s all “burning” so it’s painful. To counter this, Vincent was given an antacid injection (it would work faster than a tablet or liquid medication).
Vin...

Vincent Still Has No Appetite 24th Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent has no appetite. Sigh…
This has proven to be a big hurdle for us.
This morning, I offered him food, but he didn’t want any of it. So I had to force-feed some Recovery. He doesn’t like this. He doesn’t like being force-fed. I know. Vincent is a very proud cat. Last night, I opened the AD (I thought that would be my last trump card) – he hated it. Most cats like AD. Vincent hates it.
He hates AD more than Recovery, but both are on his “hate list&r...

Hmm….a Bit Late, Aunty (sudah Dikorek Habis) 23rd Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Remember how I wrote to many applicants, especially the serial ones, to ask if they would be willing to donate back RM10 a month (30 sen per day) to the Fund during these difficult times, so that the Fund can keep afloat and we can continue helping everyone?
No one responded, and instead, the weekly maximum claims continued coming in.
But before that, I MUST thank the applicant who, on her own, had always reduced RM10 from every claim she made. I must also thank the few applicants who, on every ...

“Reminding” Vincent To Drink 23rd Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent had not drunk water on his own since yesterday. I put a full bowl of water in his room but it remained untouched.
I know there’s moisture in the food that he eats but he barely ate. There’s also the daily 250ml subcut, so I am not unduly worried. But with his massive rate of fluid loss through urination, I still wanted him to drink water.
Tonight’s dinner consisted of raw chicken fillet plus just a little bit of liver. But he didn’t want any of it. I&r...

Vincent’s Liver Meal 23rd Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
For lunch, which was already pushed to about 2pm today, I brought up Recovery (planning to force-feed Vincent) and a bowl of liver.
Vincent didn’t want any of it, so I had to force-feed him some Recovery, just to get some food into his stomach. He cannot go on like this, starving himself.
The taste of Recovery somehow led him to eat raw liver.

HOW Does Cow Do It? 23rd Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Cow has been coming into the room (and yes, stinking it up, sadly) as and when he wishes.
We cannot, for the life of us, figure out how he does it….
How can Cow POSSIBLY fit through this hole? How???
Cow is solid. He’s all muscle. How can that diameter fit through the hole?
HOW?!!
Even Cleo has to squeeze a bit. I’ve watched her go in and out.
I’m dying to get to the bottom of this latest mystery!
There is another mystery too – where did he spray in the room? I ...

Vincent’s Morning And Other Stories 23rd Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
Vincent wet the bed again last night, but it was too disruptive to change the sheets. “Luckily” his urine is mostly water (could even be all water since his kidneys are shot). I placed a thick towel over the wet patch and will change all the sheets this morning.
We are thinking that maybe a large piece of tarp (as a liner) might be more cost-effective, instead of these bed liners.
Vincent did not look so good this morning. He still has heavy breathing which I hope is purely due...

The Serial Claimants And The CNRMers 22nd Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
So far, we have identified 8 serial claimants and have informed them that we are no longer able to continue aiding their long-term rescue work. They have all been given one month’s notice after which they won’t be eligible to apply for more aid from us.
As published earlier, they may write in from time to time to enquire if our financial situation has improved. However, our priority is still to help new applicants and to grow a larger community of animal caregivers.
To the serial cla...

It’s an improvement already!
Let’s hope Vincent will gain better appetite tomorrow.
Thank you, dear friends, for rooting for Vincent. Am so sorry for the “false alarm” yesterday. But I’m so glad it was a false alarm!

Vincent, Back From Vet’s 22nd Nov 2018, by AnimalCare
I am relieved.
Actually, so relieved.
I’m glad I took Vincent to see his vet today even thought I thought the car trip might exhaust him and stress him out.
As it turned out, Vincent has a respiratory infection as well as some rotten teeth (with pus). This is probably why we doesn’t feel like eating.
Though the above does not sound that good, it sure is “better” than heart failure or “further” kidney failure symptoms.
His right canine is also rotten (and the r...
