With The Ongoing Battle Against Covid-19, We Are F.. 19th Sep 2020, by Roots & Shoots Malaysia
With the ongoing battle against Covid-19, we are finding more litter in our rivers and public spaces. This puts a tremendous strain on our already fragile eco-system with many disposables taking a long time to break down.
What can you do?
1) Use less. The more recyclable and reusable items we can utilise in our daily lives, the better it will be for our environment.
2) Dispose of your rubbish responsibly. Litter on the streets makes its way into the drains and the rivers, causing sever pollu...

Today is #OrangutanDay
Orangutans are classified as critically endangered which is one step before being extinction. They could very well not exist in the near future for your children to see - a thing of the past like black or white films, except that they may never come back.
1) The threats faced by orangutans involve deforestation, the palm oil trade where most of their prime habitat spots have been converted to palm oil plantations, the illegal pet trade, and illegal poaching.

Today Is An Important Day - It Is Global Tiger Day.. 29th Jul 2020, by Roots & Shoots Malaysia
Today is an important day - it is Global Tiger Day. And we need to talk about these urgent facts:
1) There are fewer than 150 tigers left in the wild at optimistic estimates. Compare that number with the number we had in the 1950’s - over 3000.
2) Which means, in just 7 decades, we have efficiently and effectively wiped out 95% of the Malayan Tiger population. At this rate of decline, many calculate that it is only 3 - 5 years before we successfully eradicate the Malayan Tiger from our jungl...

Mangroves Cover Less Than 2 Of Malaysias Total Lan.. 26th Jul 2020, by Roots & Shoots Malaysia
Mangroves cover less than 2% of Malaysia’s total land area but do so much for us. Mangrove jungles are one of the most efficient carbon stores, holding as much as 40% more than dry land forest. They also serve as natural barriers against tsunamis and allow many marine life to spawn.
Yet they still face threats such as land reclamation and forest clearing.
What can you do?
Dispose of rubbish responsibly
Waste that does not get disposed of properly eventually finds its way to the rivers and ...

#Gombe60
Today marks the anniversary of the day Dr Jane Goodall first arrived on the shores of Lake Tanganyika to study the wild chimpanzees.
Not only did that lead to ground-breaking discoveries that totally redefined “mankind”, but has also led to a worldwide drive to be kinder and more compassionate towards the animals who share our planet.
Thank you for being an inspiration, Dr Jane Goodall. Sending much love from Malaysia 🇲🇾
