Firstly, the person who tipped off the incident is a 13-year-old child of a single mother. We cannot curse her for not releasing the dog. Secondly, the dog owner apparently is a widow that runs a business in Cheras hence she leaves home in the morning and returns home at night. Her husband passed away 6 months ago. It was a sad day as 82-year-old Auntie Mariyee bid farewell to her favourite boy Johnny today. Johnny knew that something was going to happen and he hid inside the house since yesterday. We will keep Johnny at a volunteer's house once he has been neutered and vaccinated twice so that Auntie will have easy access to him. A post about this 82-year-old auntie has been going around recently. A counsellor, who was formerly with the welfare department, is helping her and he contacted us. The Auntie lives in a remote area in Gombak with her 7 dogs. One of the dogs have also given birth to six puppies. Her husband and her two sons died years ago and hence the dogs are her family. When we carried out our first pound rescue at the DBKL pound in Setapak, we found a Beagle amongst the dogs in death row. She was a sad little dog with bad skin. The last pix if her fresh from the pound and at the vet clinic. One of our volunteers adopted her and nsmed her JoJo. She provides JoJo a great life and when she (JoJo) had a stroke, nursed her back to health. The first pix was taken today. For years after her rescue, JoJo was one of MDDB's regular doggie volunteers.
