About 2 weeks ago, the 2013 Turtle Calendars that we were promoting on our website, Facebook and Twitter were finally ready for distribution. And within a few days, we had sold out the first 1,500 copies that we had ordered!

We are pleased to announce that Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS) is producing a 2013 Turtle Calendar that features the beautiful turtle mosaics mounted on the walls and floor in Turtle Alley, Chinatown, Kuala Terengganu. The calendar is expected to be ready before the end of November.

For conservationists, putting an end to the consumption of turtle or terrapin eggs is an uphill, if not a never-ending, battle.

On Saturday, 13th October 2012, a total of 413 five-month-old river terrapins were released into the Kemaman River. These river terrapins were hatched from the river terrapin conservation project carried out in Kg. Pasir Gajah earlier this year.

The time has come for our Annual Terrapin Release event!
In about 2 weeks’ time, we will be releasing more than 400 five-month-old river terrapins into the Kemaman River. These river terrapins are the results of this year’s conservation project, where more than 1,400 river terrapin eggs were secured for incubation, and 975 terrapin hatchlings were hatched. Two Turtle Discovery Trips had been successfully carried out in the past two weekends, and I am glad to report that the participants had had an enjoyable time here in Cherating/Kemaman. They visited the Turtle Sanctuary in Cherating, which is managed by the Department of Fisheries, Pahang and learned a great deal about the sea turtles and critically endangered terrapins in Malaysia.
