We held the second #TCSWildlifeExplorer programme with Sjkc Chukai Kemaman in Taman Rekreasi & Zoo Kemaman last Saturday. Students and teachers had the opportunity to meet some endangered wildlife such as the Asian Elephant and Malayan Tigers, and learned the major threats that they face in the wild.

In collaboration with Zoo Kemaman and Lions Club, we hosted 20 students from SJK (C) Kuala Kemaman and SJK (C) Lok Khoon in our new educational and awareness programme called ‘Wildlife Explorer Programme’. We Held The Last Turtle Camp Turtle Awareness Prog..

We held the last Turtle Camp (Turtle Awareness Programme) for this year on 30/10/2018 with 40 students from SK Pusat Kemaman Trg at Kemaman Sands. Besides turtle awareness talk, the students spent the evening with various exciting games such as treasure hunt. The rain definitely cannot stop us from learning about turtles and have fun!

We agree! We believe that skills are wayyyyyy more important.
That's why we accept interns even though they don't have a "relevant" degree. We've accepted interns who were doing medicine and veterinary degrees.
We also believe that skills can be taught. Hence, we focus on teaching and training our interns the necessary skills to excel in their career.
Because, where else to learn if not from an NGO where you're expected to be the accountant, teacher, trainer, PR officer, reporter, photograph...

It’s #TaxaTuesday! Continuing with the third Genus in Family Geoemydidae, Cuora (Asian Box Turtles), which contain 12 species.
Previously, pond and box turtles are categorized under Family Emydidae; however, several species of the box turtles were reclassified into Family Geoemydidae after revised. Box turtles are unique as they are able to hide their entire body into their hinged plastron (bottom and top shell can close tightly like a “box”, named Box Turtle).

This is one of the reasons we don't encourage anybody to keep turtles as pets, besides the very obvious reason that it is illegal to do so.
Freshwater turtles, especially softshell turtles (like this one in the picture) grows up to more than a meter in length. And as such, they require much space and lots and lots of food and water. Keeping them in a small container is torturous.

Today’s #TaxaTuesday, introducing the second Genus in Family Geoemydidae, Cyclemys (Leaf Turtles), which contain 7 species, C. atripons, C. dentata, C. enigmatica, C. fusca, C. gemeli, C. oldhamii & C. pulchristriata.
The species of Cyclemys that can be found in Malaysia is C. dentata, Asian Leaf Turtle. C. dentata is listed as ‘Near Threatened’ under the IUCN Red List.

Now, the first genus in Family Geoemydidae for today’s #TaxaTuesday is Batagur, which contain 6 species, B. affinis, B. baska, B. borneoensis, B. dhongoka, B. kachuga & B. trivittata.
