It’s #TaxaTuesday and the last Genus of freshwater turtles found in Malaysia is Siebenrockiella. Siebenrockiella used to be monotypic, having only S. crassicollis (Black Marsh Turtle). Then, another species, S. leytensis (Philippine Forest Turtle) was added under this Genus. S. crassicollis is native to Malaysia. Black Marsh turtle is listed as ‘Vulnerable’ under the IUCN Red List. It’s #TaxaTuesday for the fifth Genus to be introduced, which is Malayemys (Snail-Eating Turtles), with only 3 species (M. khoratensis, M. macrocephala & M. subtrijuga).
