Today (Wednesday, 26th June 2019) we went to SMK Chung Hwa Wei Sin, Kuala Terengganu for an awareness programme. We talked about turtles, terrapins and making ecobricks.
We hope that all 900 students and the teachers are now more aware about our turtles and how we could play a role in helping them survive.

We've Just Conducted Our Second Awareness Programm.. 26th Jun 2019, by Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia
We've just conducted our second awareness programme with secondary school students today. We were at Chung Hwa Wei Sin Secondary School, Kuala Terengganu and we shared about turtles with more than 900 students and teachers.

We thank the teachers for helping manage the students. And we're also glad to have Dr. Dahlia and her team, as well as the "Save Our Pangolin" team, both from UMT joining us today.

Head down to The Good Shop Malaysia pop-up booth in Sunway Pyramid (every Saturday and Sunday), from 10am - 10pm, to get your hands on our local hand-made products.
Products available are coin bags, button badges, pewter and polymer clay turtle necklaces, beaded turtle keychains, terrapin-motif batu seremban, straw pouches, bandanas and 3D turtle paper mache!

In conjunction to World Turtle Day celebration, here are some turtle facts you may or may not know..
- 'Turtle' is an umbrella term for more than 350 species of turtles including sea turtles, freshwater turtles, softshell turtles, semi-aquatic turtles and land dwelling tortoises.

Predatory fire ants are known to attack hatchlings in nests. Hatchlings typically take several hours or days after pipping, to fully absorb residual yolk before emerging from the nest. During this time, they are vulnerable to fire ants attack which resulted in dead or impaired hatchlings.
This particular nest were the only nest that was invaded by fire ants and out of 10 hatchlings, only 5 managed to escape the attack. Fret not terrapin lovers! We are checking and making sure that other nests ...
