Quick terrapin update! 🐢

Most of our terrapins are recovering from eye infection. This particular one here, is almost fully recovered.
.
They are all active, healthy and are eating well. We made sure to change their water regularly, apply medicine (eye drops) and feed them a balance diet of both pellets and vegetables!
.

I made it a point to drop by Kemaman to see @drpelf81 and to get terrapin-print batik masks from @tcsMalaysia. Dr Pelf is this amazing woman who has dedicated herself to turtle conservation work. Our Malaysian terrapins would thank her for saving them from extinction, that is if they could speak.
And now Pelf has embarked on a project that raises fund for her NGO, but more importantly empowers the Kemaman kampung ladies to earn their own money.

Two Days Ago, We Meet Two Research Teams, Who Came..

Two days ago, we meet two research teams, who came all the way down from UMT, at our Conservation Centre. They heard about our sick terrapins and offered to help. So, they’ve collected samples to run further analysis.
.
They are helping us identify the specific bacteria that’s causing eye infection and testing out the best treatment.
.
We are extremely grateful to Dr. @dahlia_sidique and Prof. Effendy’s research team for their helping hand!

Inilah antara "backpack" yang dijahit oleh Puan-puan dari Kg. Pasir Gajah, Kemaman hari ini.
Mungkin sebelum ini, ada di antara mereka yang tidak terfikir bahawa mereka mempunyai kemahiran untuk menjahit sebuah backpack. Tetapi berkat usaha masing-masing, setiap wanita berjaya menghasilkan backpack yang bukan sahaja cantik dan unik, tetapi juga praktikal.
Kami berasa amat bangga dengan usaha gigih dan pencapaian setiap wanita dalam program Pemerkasaan Wanita kami!

Community Empowerment Programme: Azlina Zakaria A.k.a Kak Na

We initiated our Community Empowerment Programme in 2019, which aims to empower local women in Kampung Pasir Gajah. Through this initiative, these full-time housewives were able to fashion our terrapin motive batik into a variety of reusable and eco-friendly merchandise. Proceeds from the sales has definitely help these women and their family, financially.
