It seems like we're approaching the end of the 2021 nesting season. We've had a pretty good season though. We managed to saved more than 550 eggs from being consumed.
When this community-based river terrapin project was initiated in 2011, we had only 5 men patrolling one nesting bank.
A decade later, we now have 14 men patrolling four nesting banks and ensuring the terrapin eggs are saved for incubation.

Do You See What We See?. Our Terrapin Guardians Ha.. 16th Feb 2021, by Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia
Do you see what we see?
Our Terrapin Guardians have very good eyesight and hearing they could spot or hear a river terrapin crawling on the sandbank!
The female terrapins are very shy (or rather, very wild). They would abandon the nesting process at the slightest disturbance. In fact, it is this fear of human/poachers that keeps them alive.
