If you've visited us, you'd notice that there are pieces of driftwoods in our head starting pond.
This is why we provide driftwoods in our tanks/ponds. For the terrapins to bask! 👍🏻
Terrapins are cold-blooded, so they can't control their body temperature internally. They bask to absorb warmth and vital UV rays. They also often stretch out their legs to absorb additional heat.

Did you know that different types of turtles have different sleeping habits?
Sea turtles can sleep in water for several hours without emerging to the surface to breathe. This is because their metabolic rate slows down when they're sleeping, allowing them to use oxygen more efficiently, which allows them to remain underwater for hours before they need to surface again to change their air.
