Murphy!

Murphy’s Story…
Poor Murphy at only 2 years old came to the shelter as unable to fend for himself on the streets. Murphy was suffering from a severely compromised immune system and virtually hairless from mange. Murphy when found was a walking skeleton, virtually hairless and covered in open wounds.
If Murphy had not been rescued he would undoubtedly have died a slow and painful death alone. Murphy had obviously given up hope and when found was lying in a street gutter. At first our animal...

Dog Meat Traders Arrested – Friday (15-03-2013)
3 trucks have been intercepted in Bueng Kan province just north of Sakhon Nakhon, Thailand. Two of the trucks contained empty cages and the third caged dogs containing 117 dogs. The trucks were headed for crossing points on the Mekong river for onward transport of the dogs to Vietnam. 5 men and 1 woman arrested.

MEG MEETS HER NEW MUM IN THE UK!...

Meg landed in the UK last night & after spending the evening with her flight volunteer (Richard), this morning she finally met her new mum (Sheila). As you can see, it looks like love at first sight!. Meg's wearing her new hand knitted jumper & enjoying a much needed cuddle after her long journey. Meg's recent hair growth sprouted just in time for her new climate! We wish Meg & Sheila many happy years together. Bye "Meggles" we will all miss you so much!!

ADAMAS HAS LEARNED TO TRUST AGAIN.... You may remember Adamas who was found at a Phuket hotel after having had boiling water poured over her. She's been at our shelter almost a year now & although she still bears the physical scars of her ordeal, she absolutely adores people & has the sweetest nature. She's young (16 months old) cuddly, friendly & loves affection as you can see by this video.

There are now around 250 monthly donors in the Magic 1000 club trying to make sure that these dogs get sufficient food each month. Shiver's Story…
Shiver was found at the side of a road at the brink of death. He had horrific skin infections, malnutrition & pneumonia. We did not think Shiver would survive. After several months of intensive care & treatment Shiver's condition gradually improved.

Many thanks to the students at the American School of the Hague and their teacher Arlette Stuip for their tremendous efforts in raising funds for Soi Dog's much urgently needed hospital. With the number of patient animals presenting for treatment nearly tripling over the past 3 years the need to build better hospital facilities has become a matter of urgency!
The children raised €5,720 which is more than 1000 Euros over their personnel goal.

John & Gill Dalley accompanied by representative from the Network For Animal Protection (NetAP - Sweden) are in the NE of Thailand meeting with government officials to discuss the ongoing campaign to stop the dog meat trade and continuing steps to care for the dogs rescued from the trade.

Breaking News, More Dog Smugglers Arrested…
Following yesterday’s arrest of dog smugglers: early this morning (14 March 2013) Border Patrol Police acting on information supplied by Soi Dog’s undercover investigators arrested an ADDITIONAL 6 dog smugglers at the Thai border, Mekong River, Bungkan Province close to the location of the arrest yesterday moring. Initial estimate indicates that over one hundred dogs have been saved. Updates will be posted as soon as we have more information.
