An Important Message From John Dalley - Vice President, The Soi Dog Foundation Dear Friends and Supporters of Soi Dog, I am writing to you about a very important matter. Recently the Phuket Gazette published an online poll concerning “management” of street dogs in Phuket. On the surface this may not seem particularly important however it very much is in that such polls do influence governmental policies. In Soi Dog’s opinion the poll is biased, flawed to the point of the absurd and was c...

Many people have asked “Well, what is the answer that is in the best interests of the dogs and local residents? SHORT ANSWER IS OPTION 4: “No, there’s no need to collect them, they’re not a big problem in Phuket.” Option 4 should read: “No,...

My friends, my name is Sara Paz. I originally adopted Conchita, the sweet puppy I found on Mao Kao beach. We brought her home to Singapore last June and she filled our home with so much love that we decided to return to Phuket to find her brother, Panchito, and bring him home with us. After 2 trips to Phuket, we finally found him living in a construction site. We brought him home and reunited him with his sister. He has been with us for 1 month and they are like pees and carrots. The love he h...

Hi, I'm Desperado and I live at The Soi Dog Shelter in Phuket. I have been here for 4 1/2 years and I am really hoping it's my time to find a loving home. When I arrived I had a bad wound on my back, which thanks to the great Vets here has now healed. It did leave a scar which I think gives me character. I sometimes don't get on well with other dogs, but always love it when volunteers take me out for walks and give me lots of attention. Desperado is full of life and character as you can see from...

Murphy’s Story… Poor Murphy at only 2 years old came to the shelter as unable to fend for himself on the streets. Murphy was suffering from a severely compromised immune system and virtually hairless from mange. Murphy when found was a walking skeleton, virtually hairless and covered in open wounds. If Murphy had not been rescued he would undoubtedly have died a slow and painful death alone. Murphy had obviously given up hope and when found was lying in a street gutter. At first our animal...
