JUST ANOTHER BLACK DOG - WHAT HOPE HAVE I GOT?
I'm a small black dog called Smithy. I'm nothing special to look at so not many people notice me. That was until a lady called "Mel" came to Soi Dog & we became friends. Hi everyone, I'm Cindy and I am nearly 8 years old. Having been at the shelter for 6 years I have seen many of my friends get rehomed. I was kind of hoping it could be my turn to find that forever home. I am small and cuddly and love to go for walks, roll on my back, have my tummy rubbed and get loves from the volunteers. BREAKING NEWS - MORE DOG SMUGGLERS ARRESTED
Acting on information obtained from an earlier arrest on 12-March more dog meat smugglers were intercepted yesterday (19-March) in the far NE province of Bung Khong Kan with approx. 250 dogs recovered. Dogs have been taken to the Nakhon Phanom quarantine shelter south of the area where the arrest occurred.
In the last week around 700 dogs have been recovered adding to the thousands already requiring food and treatment!

Representatives from Soi Dog and NetAP (Network for Animal Protection – Switzerland) met with government and shelter officials in NE Thailand this week to discuss further steps towards ending the illegal dog meat trade to Vietnam as well as caring for the dogs rescued from the trade.

Dog Smugglers Arrested! 19-03-2013
This early morning 2 am. Bueng Karn MRU navy police has stopped another 2 smugglers' truck and 1 transport boat. A boat driver has been arrested, over 250 dogs have been rescued at Ta Dok Kam sub-district, Bueng Khong Long district, Bueng Karn province. Please stay turn for an update news.

Four years ago Lucy was found in the Laguna area of Phuket. A German man found her on the street & brought her to the Soi Dog shelter. She was just a few months old & absolutely terrified! Murphy!

Murphy’s Story…
Poor Murphy at only 2 years old came to the shelter as unable to fend for himself on the streets. Murphy was suffering from a severely compromised immune system and virtually hairless from mange. Murphy when found was a walking skeleton, virtually hairless and covered in open wounds.

Dog Meat Traders Arrested – Friday (15-03-2013)
3 trucks have been intercepted in Bueng Kan province just north of Sakhon Nakhon, Thailand. Two of the trucks contained empty cages and the third caged dogs containing 117 dogs. The trucks were headed for crossing points on the Mekong river for onward transport of the dogs to Vietnam. 5 men and 1 woman arrested.

MEG MEETS HER NEW MUM IN THE UK!...

Meg landed in the UK last night & after spending the evening with her flight volunteer (Richard), this morning she finally met her new mum (Sheila). As you can see, it looks like love at first sight!. Meg's wearing her new hand knitted jumper & enjoying a much needed cuddle after her long journey. Meg's recent hair growth sprouted just in time for her new climate! We wish Meg & Sheila many happy years together. Bye "Meggles" we will all miss you so much!!

ADAMAS HAS LEARNED TO TRUST AGAIN.... You may remember Adamas who was found at a Phuket hotel after having had boiling water poured over her. She's been at our shelter almost a year now & although she still bears the physical scars of her ordeal, she absolutely adores people & has the sweetest nature. She's young (16 months old) cuddly, friendly & loves affection as you can see by this video.
