BARBARA'S BROKEN HEART - ABANODONED & LEFT TO DIE

Barbara & her friend Burin were abandoned in a deserted house by their owner in April last year. They were left with no food, no water & no chance of survival. Luckily someone heard the dogs frantically crying for help & contacted Soi Dog.
Burin was recently adopted, but Barbara remains at the shelter & is a very sad girl. She lays under her sala all day long as she's scared of the more dominant dogs in her run. She has the thickest coat & Phuket's hot humid weather is not suited to Barbara. S...

Meet A Boy Called "Fran"...

A BOY CALLED "FRAN" & HIS FRIEND "SAM"... Fran was rescued after being involved in a road accident where he fractured his leg & lost his eye. He is a very calm, sweet natured boy & we'd love to find him a new home. His best buddy is SAM, a big lumbering labrador with a heart of gold, who's also looking for someone special to love him.The happy pair love to go walkies together & are an absolute delight!

JUST ANOTHER BLACK DOG - WHAT HOPE HAVE I GOT?
I'm a small black dog called Smithy. I'm nothing special to look at so not many people notice me. That was until a lady called "Mel" came to Soi Dog & we became friends. She was nice to me, took me for walks & told me how special I was. We cuddled lots & I was so sad when Mel left to go home because she wasn't able to take me with her. I've just found out that Mel loved me so much, she wants to help me find a forever home & will pay towards a flight...

THE STUNNING CAMEO & CAPONY - CAN THEY STAY TOGETHER FOR EVER?

We found Cameo & Capony dumped on a Phuket street with their mother "Caramel" when they were just 4 weeks old. They were rushed to the Soi Dog shelter which has been their home for 9 months. They are happy, playful young cats who are a little shy with strangers. The pair have spent their entire life at the shelter & our wish is for a caring person to offer them a forever home together.

He had been savagely attacked and half his scalp had been sliced off. Humphrey was raced to the shelter where he underwent immediate emergency treatment.

Dog Smugglers Nabbed!
Following up on yesterday’s (23-03) arrest of dog smugglers while attempting to cross the Mekong River: The 244 dogs rescued have been taken to the Nakhon Phanom shelter south of where the arrest occurred. Sailors of the Royal Thai Navy can be seen bringing the dogs back up the slipways which the smugglers had used to take the dogs down the river bank to their boats.

Breaking News! More Dog Smugglers Arrested 23-03-2013...

Dog Smugglers Intercepted!
Working with Soi Dog’s investigators the Mekong River Unit of The Royal Thai Navy intercepted and arrested smugglers attempting to move dogs across the Mekong River in the NE province of Bung Khong Kan. 244 dogs have been saved and 12 unfortunately were found dead due to the horrendous conditions in which they were transported.

Burriram Shelters

We visited last week and we were also not happy regarding the lack of shelter.
Soi Dog staff visited the Burriram shelter last week where some of the thousands of dogs rescued from the illegal dog meat trade are housed. With arrests of smugglers the Department of Livestock is improving this shelter as a matter of urgency as other shelters where the dogs are housed are well above capacity.
On the visit the dogs currently there were all trying to huddle under a couple of small inadequate shelter...

Chinnawat - the smiling dog, has arrived at his new home in Finland & doing great! Here's an update from his new family...
