Rescued Dogs Arrive At New Shelter...

Many thanks to Soi Dog supporters who have contributed towards the cost of building shelters at Burriram (TH) for the dogs rescued from the dog meat trade.
Yesterday 300 dogs were transferred from the shelter at Khemmarat to the new purpose built shelters at Burriram. Each shelter costs around $35,000 to construct and many more shelters are needed to give these dogs the care and attention they deserve.

PRASITH ADOPTED LOCALLY!... The beautiful Prasith was adopted to a lovely Thai lady (Khun Sunee) & left the shelter yesterday morning to start life in his new home. This adorable boy has been here for a long time recovering from a severe head wound. Dr Su (pictured right) was there to say goodbye.

Oscar & Maple Arrive In The UK

Oscar and Maple have arrived safe and sound to the UK. They were a little stressed to start with and worried about each other when we went our separate ways but other than that both are doing amazing.
Maple is loving being at home with his new Mum & Dad in Birmingham and Oscar has made friends with his DMT Sibling 'Hope'.
Oscar & Maple even met Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts at Heathrow Cargo Reception! They had a cuddle and she was really interested in their story.

An important meeting was recently held in Hanoi with representatives of various SE Asian governments and the Asian Canine Protect Alliance (consisting of Soi Dog, Change For Animals Foundation Animals Asia and the Humane Society International).
The meeting focused on further steps to eliminate the illegal dog meat trade, curb the population of strays and eliminate rabies from the region.

DEAR LITTE COLLIE... HE NEEDS A HOME IN THAILAND

Collie is a very special boy who has lived at our Phuket shelter most of his life, after his owners dumped him in the road 2 years ago. Collie suffers from epilepsy which is controlled by medication. He also has no teeth due to distemper in his pupy years so he's very vulnerable & therefore keeps his distance from other dogs. SEE COLLIE ON THESE 2 VIDEOS

OUR SUPER SWEET CLARENCE NEEDS A HOME

But don’t be fooled by the name, Clarence is actually a girl!
This super sweet girl came to the shelter in 2009 after being found on the streets in a sorry state. She did find a home, but was returned to the shelter when the adopters relocated abroad. She has been with us ever since, but really deserves the loving home that she so craves. She is such an affectionate and loving girl and is remarkably gentle for the big girl that she is.

Thaialnd - A View Towards A Nation Wide Sterilization And Vaccina

Following on to the recent ACPA conference in Hanoi (see: http://www.soidog.org/en/newsletter-sign-up/past-n ewsletters/03-09-2013/) representatives from Thailand's Dept. of Livestock development visited Soi Dog this week to learn more about our model sterilization/vaccination program with an eye towards implementing a nationwide program.
