HERO UPDATE PART TWO 26th Nov 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation
This afternoon Gill passed on your requests for hugs and he certainly seemed to enjoy them. We can tell you that he is a very gentle dog and what fur remains is very soft and looks like he is brindle in colour and semi long haired. Will be a very handsome boy if he recovers. He is certainly already looking much better.
Some more dead maggots were found today and removed and his skin looks more settled. We will keep our fingers crossed that the current drugs succeed in overcoming the septicemi...

HERO UPDATE PART ONE 26th Nov 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation
Hero is responding to treatment and is under the care of Dr. Su who as regular followers will know is a miracle worker with wounds. These photos were taken on Monday. We are not showing photos of the left hand side of his body as many people would find it too distressing, with numerous puncture wounds. On Monday Dr. Sue gave him a body scrub which is actually very gentle and removed matted fur and dead skin. It took 90 minutes to complete. At present treatment is focusing on the septicemia as th...

REST IN PEACE CHA CHA
We are sad to announce the passing through old age of one of our favourite old age pensioners. Cha Cha who had been a street dog all her life came to use 2 years ago following a road accident and it was felt that she was no longer able to cope on the streets. Popular with staff and volunteers alike she spent her final years in safety and enjoyed life at the shelter. We wish you well Cha Cha on the other side of the bridge. It is only through your support that we have been ...

Are you looking for a meaningful gift for a loved one?
This holiday season you can achieve both!

Your help is needed now to provide shelter for dogs rescued from the dog meat trade!
Click here to help: http://www.soidog.org/en/newsletter-sign-up/past-n ewsletters/25-11-2013/index.html
Current government shelters are inadequate for the care of the dogs. They are converted livestock facilities and were never intended for long term care of dogs. Little protection from the elements, lack of segregation of dogs, poor quarantine and overcrowding is a dangerous recipe for disease epidemics a...

“Jaynee” had been living on the streets of Phuket for 9 years before he fell ill and his hair started to fall out. He grew a thick scab all over his body which was itchy and when scratched it would bleed. He was so ill he didn't have the strength to search for food.
Someone noticed Jaynee and felt sorry for him, so they rang Soi Dog. The Soi Dog truck picked hi...

UPDATE ON DOG RESCUED YESTERDAY 24th Nov 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation
Many people have requested an update on the dog who was picked up yesterday near the Heroines Monument. Owing to the location he was found we have named him Hero. Hero has been given emergency treatment and is now a wait and see situation. His legs were so badly swollen that it was even difficult to get a blood sample, the analysis indicates septicemia and he is receiving antibiotics to fight it, but he is extremely sick. Many of the wounds were infested with maggots. On the positive side he is ...

“Bobby” Dazzler Is Losing His Spark 23rd Nov 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation
The only time our little “Bobby” dazzler smiles now is when the volunteers arrive to give him some love, and only then does he venture out from his hidey hole under the sala. As you can see when he does smile it is enough to brighten anyone’s day, and it certainly brightens ours.
He has been with us for about 4 ½ years now, and he arrived with us when he was 2. He is such a friendly, loving and gentle soul who loves attention, and the shelter life seems to be grinding him down.
Could yo...

THAI PEOPLE DO CARE! 23rd Nov 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation
The email below and photos were received late last night at 11.15 pm. Of course her offer to pay has been refused. She already uses all her spare income to help animals in need. As you can see from her e mail she is just one of many Thai people who do care about the animals here. Often from posts people can be forgiven for thinking nobody cares but of course this is not the case.
Khaun Sanae one of our rescue officers was called in on his day off to get the dog this morning and he is now at th...
