An Update On The Illegal Dog Meat Trade, Laos
13th Dec 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation

Soi Dog agents last week toured all the border crossings between Laos and Vietnam. The main crossing used for dogs is on Laos highway 8. The guards there said they had had no dogs cross since late April and all dogs were accompanied by Thai export licenses. The guards were unable to show these licenses and stated were destroyed after 3 months. The Thai Department of Livestock state that no export licenses have been issued (they do not approve licenses for the export of dogs) but of course canno...

BRIGITTE LOSES BATTLE We are very sad to report that Brigitte, despite the best efforts of our vets, passed away late yesterday afternoon. When she arrived we were confident we could save her as we see far worse cases than this such as Hero, but her refusal to eat indicated, as reported yesterday, that she had lost the will to live. Intravenous fluids and supplements and appetite stimulants were simply not enough. We can only be thankful that in her last days she received love and atten...

Tukkata Is Growing Up
12th Dec 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation

Tukkata Is Growing Up Tukkata is growing up and we would love to find a loving home for this special girl. She was just a 4 week old pup living on her own near a Temple when someone noticed that she had a problem with one of her back legs. They thankfully contacted us and we brought her to our shelter. She had probably been hit by a car, and she had a fractured leg. After receiving lots of love, attention and medical care from our staff she is now ready to find her forever home that she is s...

She is still extremely weak and has refused all food until this morning. Refusing to eat is generally a sign that the dog has lost the will to live and we see this regularly with abandoned pets. Silley's New Life..........
11th Dec 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation

Do you remember Silley? Silley came to the shelter in a terrible state back in April 2012. He was found on the streets of Karon in Phuket with a severe maggot infested neck wound which needed urgent treatment to ease his pain. It was evident that Silley had not eating for a long time as he was underweight and suffering from malnutrition when he arrived. IT NEVER ENDS!
10th Dec 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation

IT NEVER ENDS! No sooner had the new Brigitte Bardot sterilization clinic opened than another poor dog arrived at the shelter so of course we have named her Brigitte. If she survives she will no doubt be as beautiful as the wonderful lady she is named after. Brigitte was picked up in Rawai in the south of the island following a number of reports. She has severe demodex and blood parasites and her body is covered in dried blood from no doubt the incessant scratching of her poor emaciated body. At...

Roz Is Off To Pastures New
10th Dec 2013, by Soi Dog Foundation

She is nearly blind and has been for some years, but this has never held her back, and she is one of the most loving, gentle and affectionate dogs. She is heading off to a new life in the UK where she is joining an amazing family who are hoping to get her eyes examined to see if there is anything that can be done. Always a spring in her step, and a loving nudge to let you know she is there, all the st...

Today Gill bid a bittersweet farewell to Cristy as saw her off at the start of her journey to the UK with flight volunteers Brian and Michelle and 5 other lucky dogs. She is on her way to Donna and Lynda and of course new mate Murren. W...

You Can Sponsor Taa Reua today… This is Taa Reua, just one of the hundreds of dogs rescued by Soi Dog Foundation. Found with a rope around her neck that was left on 24 hours per day, so tight it buried into her skin causing a two inch wide deep wound that was filled with maggots. The second photo is Taa Reua today. Taa Reua will always have a permanent scar around her neck but the emotional wounds are now healing and she is learning to trust again.
