I also don't know why I've been at the shelter for so long, as everyone who meets me says that I'm a really sweet girl. Even though I'm 8 years old I have lots of energy. When the volunteer takes me for a walk we often have a little run, but first they give me time to sniff eve...

23rd Jun 2014, by Soi Dog Foundation

I am an old boy of about 12 years of age and my name is Poajai. I have been through a lot recently and I would like to tell you my story. I have grown up and grown old on the streets of Phuket, Thailand, the only home I have ever known. Recently, I ran into trouble when some people near my territory decided they didn’t want me hanging around there. Every day, they threw stones at me to make me go away. I had to run and find somewhere where I could be safe. I didn’t do too well. I moved to...

Hello, I am Shooter, a 4 year old boy rescued from the streets of Phuket. I have been in so much pain recently, after a human tried to hack off the base of my tail. I will never know why they did that; I don’t think I did anything to deserve it. I was found wandering the streets crying in pain. Animal Rescue Officer Khun Jaroon scooped me up and rushed me to the Soi Dog shelter. I was panicking quite a bit when I arrived. I was really not sure who these people were or what they would do to me...

“I am a 4 year old boy, rescued from a terrifying situation and agonising pain. I have lived all my life on the street; it was the only home I’ve ever known. I was managing to get by and look after myself, but everything changed the day I strayed into a market and had burning hot oil dumped over my back. My name is Khaofang. I wish I could explain to you the pain I went through. The boiling oil tore through my flesh and all I could do was scream in agony. I was so terrified, I wanted to die...

We are two little 10 month old sisters who have suffered so much in our short lives. Born onto the streets of Thailand, with no home to call our own and no owner to love and care for us, we were left to fend for ourselves. We didn’t manage very well. Our names are Swirly and Sweepy and this is our story. We were in a very bad way when we were picked up and brought to a mobile clinic. Both of us had something called demodetic mange and we were suffering a lot. We had lost our fur and we were f...

Hello, do you remember us? We are Latif, Lenka, Livia and Lasaro! You might not recognise us because of how big we have grown. We were found all alone, dumped behind a local hospital. We had no mother with us and we were in serious danger of dying. A local person who found us tried desperately to find our mother and when she couldn’t, she tried to feed us. She didn’t want to remove us from the area in case our mother came back looking for us – but she never did. We were probably taken fr...
