Canopus: The Donations Of Soi Dog Supporters At Work

Canopus is a 5 year old boy who was left with a severely infected wound on his neck after an attack by another dog.
He was also suffering from demodectic mange and anaemia.
Thanks to Soi Dog supporters, we were able to rescue Canopus and take him to our shelter for medical attention. It is only because of their donations that Canopus is now well on the road to recovery.
Unfortunately, he is just one of many street dogs that need help and YOU are their only hope.

Soi Dog picks up many young puppies every week. Most have been abandoned on roadsides, dumped and left to die.
Veni and Vidi arrived at Soi Dog suffering with horrendous skin problems. Only weeks old, we could see the fear and despair in their eyes and it was heart-breaking.
We were only able to help them – and the countless other puppies we pick up – thanks to the members of our Puppy Care Club. Without these special people, Veni and Vidi would never have made it.

Soi Dog treats and sterilises over 1,000 dogs and cats each month. In 2013, we sterilised more than 13,000 animals and are on track to sterilise 20,000 this year.
Each sterilisation costs us approximately US$20, meaning Soi Dog will spend $400,000 this year.
Many of the dogs and cats we pick up also require lifesaving, emergency treatment. The average cost of treating the cases we see is US$30 per animal, or approximately US$40,000 a year.

Shakey Joy was dumped over the fence of the clinic in 2005 and has lived at the shelter ever since. She has obvious signs of having suffered from distemper at some point, which has left her with a permanent shake.
Shakey Joy is now getting on a bit and lives in the OAP run, where she spends a lot of her time sleeping on the sala overlooking the lake, and loves going for walks and having cuddles with volunteers.
