A Bad Weekend For Dog Nappers & Dog Butchers!
This last weekend 5 separate arrests were made in northern Thailand.
On the night of September 20, 2014 2 trucks were intercepted carrying frozen dog meat from approximately 60 dogs. The arrests occurred at a checkpoint manned by army soldiers and police at Huay Rai police station in the Denchai district of Thailand’s Phrae province.

The angry dog came out of nowhere. His jaws locked around me and he shook me like a ragdoll. I howled in pain as his razor-sharp teeth pierced my flesh. I was terrorised and all alone.

Soi Dog treats and sterilises over 1,000 dogs and cats each month. In 2013, we sterilised more than 13,000 animals and are on track to sterilise 20,000 this year.
Each sterilisation costs us approximately US$20, meaning Soi Dog will spend $400,000 this year.
Many of the dogs and cats we pick up also require lifesaving, emergency treatment. The average cost of treating the cases we see is US$30 per animal, or approximately US$40,000 a year.

In simultaneous raids conducted by the Royal Thai Army 3 dog meat butchers were arrested and their facilities closed down.
