Soi Dog treats and sterilises over 1,000 dogs and cats each month. In 2013, we sterilised more than 13,000 animals and are on track to sterilise 20,000 this year.
Each sterilisation costs us approximately US$20, meaning Soi Dog will spend $400,000 this year.
Many of the dogs and cats we pick up also require lifesaving, emergency treatment. The average cost of treating the cases we see is US$30 per animal, or approximately US$40,000 a year.

Masala came to Soi Dog, Phuket, Thailand in October 2013 after her mum Korma and her 7 brothers and sisters were dumped. She was just 5 days old.
Masala had been at the shelter for 6 months when Donna and her family visited the shelter in May this year and fell in love with her. Masala was renamed Charlie.
We have stayed in touch with them to see how Charlie settled into her new life and family. They've sent us regular photos.

There are some things no dog should ever have to experience. Even though I’m only 4 years old, I’ve been through so much pain already. My name is Electra and I was recently hit by a car.

I am Karley. I have never known love. I have been alone in my suffering for the longest time. I am now 6 years of age.
The man’s name was Khun Sanae. He found me one day and saw that I was having terrible problems with one of my back legs. It was so bad I couldn’t even stand on it.
Sanae was gentle when he lifted me up and placed me in his truck. I didn’t understand then but that was the beginning of the end for my suffering. Khun Sanae is an Animal Rescue Officer with Soi Dog.

Planning a trip to Thailand and a visit to Soi Dog? Soi Dog welcomes visitors and our shelter is open Monday to Friday, 9.00am to midday and again from 1.00pm to 5.00pm.
Guided tours happen 3 times a day: 9.30am, 11.00am and the last one at 1.30pm. Do ensure you arrive in advance of one of these times and you will be given a tour of our shelter and get to meet many of the animals in our care.
