My name is Domonic and I have been at the Soi Dog shelter for over 8½ years. Truth be told, I’m actually a bit of a legend here.
I am the only dog who is allowed to roam free on the shelter grounds and I am very popular with the volunteers.

Rinko arrived at the Soi Dog shelter in Phuket, Thailand after she was found with an x-shaped wound on both her back paws. The cuts were so deep her nerves and tendons had been severed. This meant she was unable to control her paws so they were constantly pointing backwards. She was also very skinny and depressed.
The vets at Soi Dog cleaned her wounds and bandaged her feet daily to keep her paws in the correct position. Rinko took all her treatment in her stride.

Planning a trip to Thailand and a visit to Soi Dog? Soi Dog welcomes visitors and our shelter is open Monday to Friday, 9.00am to midday and again from 1.00pm to 3.30pm.
Guided tours happen 3 times a day: 9.30am, 11.00am and the last one at 1.30pm. Do ensure you arrive in advance of one of these times and you will be given a tour of our shelter and get to meet many of the animals in our care.

Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Thai office of online travel brand Wotif Group, who organised a bake sale to raise funds for our fight against the dog meat trade.
As a result of their efforts, they raised a staggering 131,215 Thai baht, equivalent to over US $4,000!
The bake sales were held in both Bangkok and on the island of Phuket, where Soi Dog is based.

I have been at the Soi Dog shelter now for 5½ years. My name is Nanachat and I was found struggling to survive on the streets.
I was very malnourished and as a result, my hair had started to fall out, especially around my backside.

We were contacted recently by one of the local people who feed stray dogs in their community. The man had noticed a strange looking mass on one dog’s paw.

My name is Rocky and I now live in Canada with Corey who adopted me. I was stolen for the illegal Dog Meat Trade and when I was found I had a broken jaw and was very sick.
Lucky for me Soi Dog Foundation rescued me and thanks to their help I am now happy. I love my new home and family so very much! Please watch my “Happy” video and consider adopting a dog rescued from the Dog Meat Trade. There are still more than 1500 waiting for forever homes in Thailand.

It was during an intense storm that Smoocher was found lying in the gutter.
He was being pelted by driving rain but his desperate whimpering had gone unheard. Invisible to the speeding cars that thundered past where he lay, Smoocher was terrified and shivering uncontrollably.
At just 15 weeks old, he had been abandoned in a rain-clogged drain and left to die.
