I have been at the Soi Dog shelter for almost 3½ years.
My name is Hunde and I was found struggling to walk, unable to use one of my back legs after being hit by a car. I was also suffering from tumours that are very contagious in dogs.
I was so happy when I was brought to the Soi Dog shelter for help. The vets removed my tumours but I have permanent nerve damage in my leg. I am happy here at the shelter but while I am friendly, I can also be a little shy and quiet.

I was just trying to cross the street when the car ploughed into me. I didn’t hear it until it was too late and I had run right in front of it. I am a 2 year old boy called Shimmer, who has grown up on the streets of Phuket, Thailand.

My name is Dorothy and I arrived at the Soi Dog shelter in a horrific state. I had been hit by a car. I was suffering from nerve damage and I was malnourished.

Soi Dog treats and sterilises over 1,000 dogs and cats each month. In 2013, we sterilised more than 13,000 animals and are on track to sterilise 20,000 this year.
Each sterilisation costs us approximately US$20, meaning Soi Dog will spend $400,000 this year.
Many of the dogs and cats we pick up also require lifesaving, emergency treatment. The average cost of treating the cases we see is US$30 per animal, or approximately US$40,000 a year.
