This week, our partner organisation, Animal Kingdom Foundation hosted an Animal Welfare Enforcement Officers’ seminar with the Bulacan PNP (Philippines National Police.)
In total, 51 police officers from various precincts of the PNP completed the seminar, which was incredible to see. Especially with Bulacan being one of the hot spots for the dog meat trade in the Philippines.

⚠️ Upsetting images ⚠️ Something we sadly see far too commonly; poor little Mekki was hit by a car when he was still just a small kitten. 😔
Lying on the road in a critical condition, Mekki was thankfully found by a kind passerby who couldn't just leave him there. Seeing his bleeding eye, and wounded body - they sought help which likely saved his life.

Tonprai was a sorry state when she arrived. 😟
Just skin and bones, she must have been struggling to find food for quite some time. It must have been so scary having no idea where her next meal would come from. 😔
She was also suffering from alopecia and dermatitis, which was causing irritation to her body. At just nine months old, it had also caused her to lose a lot of fur.

For the first three years of his life, Redbean was someone’s pet. But one day, for reasons unknown, they abandoned him on the streets.
With no experience of living alone or fending for himself, poor Redbean soon found himself in trouble. He was attacked by street dogs in the local area and left with a severe eye injury.
Thankfully, someone kind saw him and called Soi Dog where he was taken in for the care and safety he needed. Sadly, his left eye could not be saved and had to be removed.

⚠️ Upsetting images ⚠️ Appache was rushed to our hospital with a piece of rope tightly wrapped around her neck. 😧 The rope must have been there for so long that it was completely embedded in her skin.
Some of the tissue around the wound site had already become necrotic, and there was puss caused by an infection she had. She must have been in so much pain as the rope dug deeper and deeper into her skin, whilst being helpless to do anything about it. 😟

This is Pilar, Percy and Prince. A little over a month ago now, they were rescued from the dog meat trade in the Philippines.
