A few weeks ago, we were visited at the shelter by a company called Dimension Data. As part of their annual Corporate Social Responsibility programme, they had contacted us to offer free installation of a computer network system, CCTV and shelter-wide wifi. The day was a huge success.

Living on the streets wasn’t easy. Every day was a struggle to find shelter and food. One day I was hit by a car. But I was lucky when a kind person found me and brought me to the Soi Dog shelter. My name is Tana Chard.

I was found near a shop here in Phuket, Thailand. I had a serious injury to my eye and I was in terrible pain. Soi Dog’s Rescue Officers brought me to the shelter, and the vets discovered I had something called a perforated cornea.

My name is Greta. I’ve been in terrible pain for a very long time. A couple wounds on my cheeks never healed – they worsened and eventually maggots moved in. The sores were so deep that they penetrated to my gums and teeth. Eating was agony. But I knew I had to try to eat or I would starve to death.

These two? They’re fighters. Found on the roadside, Jaokun and Jaonay were infested with lice and battling deep wounds. They were dirty and soaked to the bone, their frail bodies trembling from weakness and fear. Sadly, their mother was nowhere to be found.
