Help Stop This Vile Practce! 18th Apr 2020, by Soi Dog Foundation
Last month, Vietnam drafted a directive to ban the illegal trade and consumption of wildlife; a move we welcomed. However, we strongly urged the authorities to include companion animals in the directive as dog and cat meat stalls are all too common at the same wet markets that trade in exotic wildlife.
But the sad reality has now presented itself – sales of dog and cat meat have risen in Vietnam. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/coro navirus-dog-cat-meat-vietnam-cambodia-indonesi...

Lumix, our 🌟Dog of the Week🌟 is coming to you all the way from Texas, USA!
Lumix is of course originally from Thailand and he came to Soi Dog Foundation's shelter, with an injured leg. His leg couldn't be saved so it had to be amputated. When you hear the name Benten, you might think of the Cartoon Network show of a 10-year-old boy and his series of adventures in space. When we hear Benten, we think of a two-year-old kitty whose own series of adventures on the streets of Thailand led him to the Soi Dog shelter.
Benten was brought to us by a kind man who found him limping around on the streets. The cause of his injury remains a mystery, but our vets knew straight away that it was beyond repair. As soon as he recovered from a bou...

Young and homeless dog Shoto came to us from Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, where he’d been cruelly abused by horrible humans.
A city of more than 8 million people, Bangkok is home to thousands upon thousands of homeless animals who’ll need emergency care at any given time. These dogs and cats are vulnerable to getting sick or hit by cars, abused by cruel humans, or simply falling victim to accidents.

Happy Songkran From All The Soi Dog Rescues. 13th Apr 2020, by Soi Dog Foundation
This year’s Songkran festival, also known as the traditional New Year in Thailand, has been postponed.
Usually, this nationwide celebration, held from the 13th-15th April, involves water splashing and community gatherings. Especially here in Phuket, the scenes can get quite chaotic. Imagine streets lined with pickup trucks blasting dance music, carrying buckets of ice-cold water and splashing passersby with water guns. However, an island-wide, sub-district lockdown has left the streets empty...

They grow up so fast, don’t they? When we first told you about Thungyah and Thungnar, they were just a month old and could fit in the palm of their carer’s hand. You could still say this brother and sister duo are a handful, but in playfulness now instead of size.
Thungyah and Thungnar were found abandoned in a rice field not far from our shelter. They had a brother too, Thungkao, but s...
