Soi Dog Foundation - Bangkok Flood Emergency - Please Help! 17th Nov 2011, by Soi Dog Foundation
STOP PRESS. FOLLOWING THE NEGATIVE TESTING FOR DISTEMPER OF THE SICK DOGS REMOVED FROM THE BRIDGE AT DOG ISLAND, THE DECISION HAS BEEN MADE TO REMOVE ALL THE DOGS AND TRANSFER THEM TO THE WFFT CENTER. A FEW MAY REMAIN AS TOO DANGEROUS TO DART IN THOSE CONDITIONS. DOGS COULD GET INTO THE WATE AND WOULD DROWN. BUT THEY WOULD BE FED AND THE RISK OF DISEASE WOULD BE MUCH LESS.
WFFT AS USUAL WILL PROVIDE THE TRUCKS, BOATS AND BUILD THE SHE SHELTERS. SDF WILL COVER AL COSTS. ANOTHER VOLUNTEER GROUP WI...

"TWIGGY" RESCUED FROM DOG ISLAND!
This sad little black dog was spotted on Soi Dog's first visit to Dog Island last week. We've named her "Twiggy" as she's so terribly skinny. On our second trip to Dog Island Bridge on Tuesday, this little dog was able to be removed & we transported her along with 6 other seriously ill dogs to a veterinary clinic in Bangkok. She tested positive for heartworm & also has a severe respiratory & blood parasite infection. She is still undergoing treatment & we expe...

RETURN TO DOG ISLAND (16 Nov) - Part 2 17th Nov 2011, by Soi Dog Foundation
This Dog is HAPPY :-)
Not only does he have all the food he could want, he also has a ready made boat, there are as many happy dogs as sad dogs out there, some even enjoy the water to go and swim, its the weak and vunerable that are at most risk in this situation.
I would imagine this dog however has never seen so much food in his life.

Mange is very common here and unfourtunatley some dogs end up in very bad condition and they suffer terribly, the cost of proper vet treatment is norma...

Soi Dog The Movie 17th Nov 2011, by Soi Dog Foundation
The work of Soi Dog Foundation was documented by a great filmmaker called Ella Todd who runs a UK based company called Environment Films, they followed SDF for two weeks detailing the work done by SDF and the founders John and Gill Dalley, Amazing People.
If you have a spare hour to watch the documentary online it is a very moving story, for those who are worried they will see horrible images, don’t worry there are none, it was filmed very well and the story tells itself without needing to sh...

Soi Dog Foundation - Bangkok Flood Emergency - Please Help! 17th Nov 2011, by Soi Dog Foundation
Several severely ill dogs were removed from Dog Island and sent to Bangkok for treatment at a vets clinic/hospital, they have all come back Negative for Distemper which is good news for them and the rest of the dogs on the bridge, they are stressed, malnourished and probably have drunk toxic waste water, and are susceptible to illness, many of they symptoms shown were similar to distemper.
We are glad they are not infected however their treatment will still need to be paid until they are fit ...

RETURN TO DOG ISLAND (16 Nov) - Part 3 16th Nov 2011, by Soi Dog Foundation
RETURN TO DOG ISLAND (16 Nov) - Part 3
Around 4pm, a vet from the Livestock department arrived to assess some of the more critically ill dogs. His main concern was a distemper outbreak, the disease we all fear the most & have been watching for. Several dogs were possible suspects, so we took them back to Bangkok for testing. Thankfully none have tested positive. Blood parasaite disease, heartworm & chest infections are prevelant amongst the dogs we removed. One dog was also removed for a form o...
