11 CATS NOW SAFE IN THE BARN SANCTUARY

Many of you know that we had been helping a colony of cats behind an auto body shop in a nearby city. Well, the good news is that over the last two weeks we staged a mission to rescue them all and to relocate them to the safety of a barn sanctuary. Though most of the time it is preferred to keep a feral cat colony in place and to provide food and shelter on site, there were a variety of factors that made relocation the safer choice for the cats and for our volunteers.

CROATIAN DOG FAMILY LEFT IN WOODS IS REUNITED!
Some of you saw the news yesterday that after hours of searching in the woods, Petra managed to locate the last three puppies in the bitter cold. Here is what she has to say:

BREAKING NEWS: DOGS LEFT IN WOODS IN CROATIA ARE ALL SAFE!
The other 3 pups have been found and are on their way out of the woods now. We can all take a deep breath now as the whole family is about to be reunited. No photos of the pups who are on their way to safety now, but here's a photo of the mother dog and one of the pups found yesterday.

"This afternoon I spent 3 and a half hours looking for pups thrown in the frozen ditch along with their mother. Ii found just two. The guy who called me with the info says there were more so I'm going again in the morning to see if I can find more of them in the daylight. The mother and the pups are in terrible condition, very thin and filled with worms fleas and ticks. All suffer from rachitis and the mom has bite marks all over her. This is Mama and she appears to have made a holiday friend. We rescued Mama earlier this Fall and she's now living the good life with her kitten who is growing up strong. Mama is a house cat, but she lives at the home of volunteer Karen F. who is running the rescue barn for feral cats as well.

Beast is one of the cats enjoying the GOOD life in a volunteer-run barn near our headquarters. Its the one year anniversary of his rescue. His entire colony was brought into the barn after they were ousted from their city neighborhood last year. Today the cats enjoy a beautiful barn with more cat perches than we can count and the have a lovely fenced area which connects to this shed which looks a bit like a gingerbread house.

ICY WARMS UP: 24 HOURS AFTER HIS RESCUE
What a difference a day can make. Last night we told you of the one month old kitten found shivering on the street in Romania. The wonderful Norica Prigoana happened across this baby and immediately wrapped him up in her daughter's scarf and brought him home as there was no way he would have survived the night. She named him Icy.

JOY & GRATITUDE: MORE WINTER CAT RESCUES

WEEKS AFTER WE SAVED THEM - HAPPY FOREVER MORE!
We rescued this mother and daughter just a few weeks ago and look at them now. Both were living on the grounds of a meat market and there were a variety of threats that put them at great risk. Devoted volunteers spent days and days until the mama and her little one were both safe and sound. And just look at them now. Ahhhhhh.... This is what its all about!

Our barn cat program for displaced ferals means that these two are waking up to another lovely morning inside a warm barn with breakfast just two steps away. At this barn, run by volunteer Karen F., there's a huge indoor area with perches, beds and toys. The cats also enjoy a large, securely fenced outdoor area with a couple of small outbuildings to explore.
