PAIR OF DOGS IN SARAJEVO MAKE IT PAST PROTESTERS
We just received this wonderful photo from volunteer Andrea Blackbird in Sarejevo. She had asked for help from the Harmony Fund to board two dogs, Teddy and Dolly, who had been rescued from the streets. The dogs have been accepted by Dogs Trust in the UK and will be traveling there for adoption soon, but Andrea simply didn't have the funds to put them into a pension (boarding facility). And getting there was another challenge.
"Last 10 days str...

NEARLY BLOWN OVER WITH ANOTHER GUST OF GRATITUDE...
Today the Harmony Fund dropped a little 'magic' at Ohana Horse Rescue in Florida. Here we see founder Carrie Young doing what she does best. Like so many others, Carrie is barely getting by, but the welfare of the horses comes above all else. We were so pleased to offer a bit of financial support here today and to so many other heroic animal rescue missions internationally.
Where else but the Harmony Fund can you grant the wishes of 'underdo...

MIRACLE MAKERS: YOU SAVED THE CRITTER PLACE!
Over the last few days, we've been visited by a fleet of angels, each leaving a donation to help save The Critter Place animal sanctuary in Florida. Many of you may have read the reports that this refuge run by husband and wife team Ted and Karen Koran was in great jeopardy due to her ongoing battle with ovarian cancer and Ted's lay off as a heavy machine operator. But we now have amazing news to report.
Thanks to all of you who circled around us, t...

SNUG IN THE CAT BARN WITH KNEE-DEEP SNOW OUTSIDE
Aren't they beauties? Waking up from another nap in the cat barn. Wonder if they're dreaming of spring when they'll be outdoors chasing moths and climbing on perches on the fenced-in grass.
We have another trio of cats slated for rescue in the next few days. They're in the vicinity of the Harmony Fund headquarters and we're getting together the traps and juicy bait to rescue these felines.
Wish us luck!

CANCER PATIENT NEEDS HELP SAVING HER SANCTUARY 17th Feb 2014, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase
Hope falls like rays of sun on the Critter Place sanctuary in Florida where husband and wife team Ted & Karen Koran rehabilitate dozens of cats, dogs, horses, pigs and birds. After decades of singular devotion to the animals, Karen and Ted now need help. Karen is recovering from stage 3 ovarian cancer and Ted has lost his job.
"It has been very difficult for us the last 4 years," explains Ted Koran, an Air Force veteran who worked for 35 years as a heavy equipment operator but has been laid of...

BABIES AND THEIR BLANKIES....
With the snow outside deep enough to easily swallow these little ones, we're so thankful to witness the comfort of these former street cats who are now living at a Harmony Fund sponsored barn sanctuary.
"I'll never forget the day I found them on the grounds of an auto body shop," Harmony Fund Founder Laura Simpson says. "The wind was bitterly cold and they were just sitting in a wet parking lot, waiting for food from employees who sometimes fed them during the we...

WRAPPING AN ARM AROUND THE DOGS & CATS OF JAMAICA
Work began at 4am today. Yes, on a Sunday, the day starts well before dawn. The Harmony Fund has a very tiny team and we're doing our best to reach out to "underdog" animal rescue squads across the planet. This morning we arranged for monthly aid to begin for The Animal House Jamaica, a darling group that is moving mountains to overcome cruelty and an abundance of strays on the island of Jamaica. Here you see Sade, on of the pups getting care no...

CRAIGSLIST POST: "3 YEARS AGO YOU WERE EVICTED, AND I HAVE YOUR DOG"
The following post comes from a New York hero....
"On Feb 9th 2011, you were evicted from an apartment at 20 Catherine St and your old red pit bull was seized by animal control and taken to the kill shelter. She was really skinny and had bad skin infections, and had been bred A LOT. She'd even had a Caesarian, judging by the scar. They said at the kill shelter she was 12 years old. She also had a lopsided face and it looked li...

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue saved this small dog from the 14th floor of a Florida apartment building. A fire had broken out in the kitchen of the unit where the dog was found. The dog was afraid but miraculously uninjured. He was lifted into the arms of one firefighter and carried to safety outside and given oxygen.
So this is what a hero looks like. Please SHARE if you believe these guys deserve our respect and gratitude for all they do.

DOG WITH 2 HOURS TO LIVE GETS VALENTINE'S DAY MIRACLE!
This morning began with many emails from people in need of help for animals in crisis. Among them was a message from Harmony Fund supporter Mallory K. who lives in Massachusetts and was pleading for help to save a small dog about to be euthanized some 2,000 miles away. I looked at the clock and there were just 8 hours until this young, healthy dog would be put to sleep because her family never came to claim her at the pound.

DOG WITH 2 HOURS TO LIVE GETS VALENTINE'S DAY MIRACLE! 15th Feb 2014, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase
This morning began with the usual barrage of 100 or so emails from people all over the world in need of help for animals in crisis. One of those messages came from Harmony Fund supporter Mallory K. who lives in Massachusetts and was asking for help to rescue a small dog about to be euthanized some 2,000 miles away. I looked at the clock and there were just 8 hours until this young, healthy dog would be put to sleep because her family never came to claim her at the pound.

11th HOUR RESCUE IN TEXAS?
One of our members who is hundreds of miles away and unable to get to this dog herself, has asked if there might be someone in the Arlington Texas area who might be able to work a miracle this morning for Wiggles. All the information is available by clicking on the photo. Maybe fate and a loving hand will step in this morning. We understand that some donations have been pledged to cover the rescue fee.

SHOULD THEY CUT IT DOWN?
400- year-old trees are in danger of being taken down to create townhouses. Harmony Fund supporter Janet McKee has asked if some of you might have 10 seconds to sign a petition to protect the land in her community on Staten Island. You don’t have to live in New York, or even America, to sign it. The petition is here http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/eminent-domain-fo r-mount/

WHAT SNOWSTORM?
Another snow storm is on it's way, but Huckleberry no longer worries about the weather. Born outside and remaining there for the first few years of his life, Huckleberry is the most affectionate cat you'll ever meet.
Tomorrow we'll be digging and digging to clear paths for feral cat colonies impacted by the snow. We do our best to make them comfortable with sheds filled with straw, food and water 365 days a year.

Written by Janice Cabral of Dogs in Brazil based in Rio de Janeiro https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dogs-in-Brazil/1994 54320100596
"A few days after we arrived at our new house the doorbell rang and I recognized one of the two men there as the guy that drove the truck to transport our dogs to the new house. He was with an older man. I answered the door and they told me the story of Murphy. Murphy had been hacked with a machete and was wonderi...

SNOW SHOVELING AFTER THE STORM
Can you find the little one in this photo? Norman is a snow-lovin' bunny who enjoys playing in the path we cleared. He's a beloved rescued pet who was found many years ago on the grounds of an industrial park near the Harmony Fund headquarters. More than a decade later, Harmony Fund Founder Laura Simpson is still in that parking lot every day, feeding the feral cat colony who resides on the grounds.
"Truthfully, my back is a little sore today," Laura said, "but ...

MOM WITH BABY IN ARMS, LOWERS CAT TO DUMPSTER
Written by Patricia Gordon of Calgary, Alberta
The end of the month always brought about a flurry of activity in my residential complex as the moving vans pulled into and out of the parking lot. These departures also resulted in the discarding of unwanted items besides the dumpsters. On this occasion I noticed a mother, while holding her baby, placing an empty cat carrier by the bin, but I thought nothing of it. Eventually I became bored with the p...

ROMANIAN DOGS ENJOYING THEIR WINTER THANKS TO YOU 2nd Feb 2014, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase
How gratifying to see the dogs of the Associatia Anima shelter in Campulung, Romania doing so well this winter thanks to the huge effort that went into repairing and fortifying this once-crumbling refuge. There's a dramatic difference in the well being of the dogs today thanks to all the volunteers who went over to swing a hammer and all of you who gave them the funding to work some magic here. Here you see a few of them hanging out in a courtyard area complete with straw filled resting boxes. ...
