SURPRISE HAPPY ENDING FOR DOG IN HOT CAR
When my husband sat down in my car yesterday he noticed the claw hammer tucked beside the passenger seat. He said, "What's that for?" And I told him, "That is for the day I find a dog in a hot car and have no other choice but to break him out."
About an hour later, we made a quick stop at the local CVS pharmacy, and when we stepped outside, we found a van parked in the handicap spot out front with a little dog inside. My husband turned to my daughter a...

CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE?
This past week was bursting with cat rescues in Turkey, Ukraine, and the United States. This little darling named Spooky is enjoying a moment in the arms of our volunteer extraordinaire Karen. Spooky has been living in a cage for a very long time and his sudden freedom to move about is wonderful. It turns out that Spooky has FIV, but he's already found an adoptive home with a 'mom' who will carefully tend to his health needs. Suddenly Spooky has a whole lot to purr about....

"WHITE OWL, $200.... HIT ME UP"
Chris Peña of Brownsville, Texas has a very good sense of right and wrong and he's not afraid to use it. Chris was looking over a friend's Facebook page when he found an unusual post advertising the sale of a snowy owl. The post said, "White owl, $200 ... hit me up."
Chris was concerned about the owl and had the suspicion that the sale was illegal, so he called his local Channel 5 News for help. The reporter brought in the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, a...

FIREFIGHTERS GIVE A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE TO LITTLE HUMMINGBIRD
Mansfield, Massachusetts firefighters did their best to care for an injured hummingbird delivered to their station recently by a local resident. The guys hand-fed the bird with sugar water and firefighter Jim Santucci's daughter Sidney named the bird "Sacha". When it comes to injured animals there's never a guarantee of what may come next, but there is undeniable beauty in the efforts of these great men.

LETTER TO THE FAMILY WHO THREW THIS CAT AWAY FOR USING HER LITTER BOX "LOUDLY":
This cat was thrown out of her home for making noise in her litter box at night. Her family grew angrier by the night as they heard her digging in her box to conceal her droppings. They threw things at her, hollered at her and chased her away. The more they yelled, the more she tried to hide her bathroom habits and go when she knew everyone was asleep. She made higher and higher mounds of litter, hoping she could h...

FALLEN BABY BLUE JAYS GET EMERGENCY NEST
Written by Angela Norton of Michigan
One day my husband tried to take down a bird’s nest that was partly connected to our electrical wiring on the outside of our house, fearing it could cause a fire or a short. He knocked down the overhead nest with a long handled rake, and to our dismay, found it had four baby blue jays in it.
We didn’t quite know what to do but knew we had to do something quickly so I found a basket in the basement and put some Sp...

WOMAN GETS STUCK IN TREE WHILE RESCUING CAT
Written by Brigitta MacMillan of British Columbia, Canada
A few years ago, our neighbor was an older lady with two cats. Barb the kitten was a little socialite who endeared herself to us. She was always there to ‘help’ with gardening or washing the car. Then, three days before Christmas, she went missing. She was still gone 24 hours later. Wet snow was falling and I felt worried, so at 9:30 I walked around hoping to find her in the quiet of the ev...

MAN RISKS LIFE SAVING LEOPARD CUBS WHILE GROWLING MOTHER LOOKS ON
Written by Karen Paolillo of the Turgwe Hippo Trust
The downside of living in Africa is not the supposed dangers of animals being red in tooth and claws but instead the little guy that can really bring you down. In this case the malaria mosquito. Normally both Jean-Roger and I get malaria at the same time, the mosquito having made sure it bites both of us! Once, Jean-Roger was nearly recovered but not up to heavy physical work, a...

Spay & Neuter For Street Animals In Turkey 14th Jul 2014, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase
For three years Harmony Fund has been sponsoring volunteer work in Avsallar, Turkey where there is a large population of street cats and dogs. It's a 365-day-a-year job to feed the homeless animals here and is led by Manuela Wroblewski, a native of Germany, who frequently rescues injured animals and hosts an international adoption program.
Cats greatly outnumber dogs here. You'll find them hiding in bushes, begging near the tables of open air restaurants and even sleeping on rooftops. But they ...

CACTUS-COVERED COYOTE PUP IS RETURNED TO HIS PACK
This poor little coyote got himself into an awful predicament when his attempts to free himself from a cactus resulted in deeper contact with the dangerous plant. Before long, the pup was covered in cacti and in serious trouble as he couldn't possibly walk, eat or drink.
Initially, Sun City West, Arizona resident Gwen Maxwell came upon the coyote pup during her morning walk. At first she thought it was a dog, until she saw the coyote's mom.
