At the animal shelter here in Donetsk, Ukraine an icy fear hangs like a spider web across the grounds. Waves of silence are broken by a thunderous barking as the dogs respond to the sound of machine gun fire and artillery falling in the city. ALL THE WAY FROM TURKEY, TWO CATS APPROACH THEIR AMERICAN HOME
Moon and Sun, a pair of cats who have been rescued from the streets of Turkey are now on the final leg of their journey to their forever home in Wisconsin.

AN ANGEL FOR SARAJEVO'S STRAYS
Last night we sent aid to Arijana Ari Arifovic, a wonderful woman who devotes herself to stray animals in Sarajevo. Her rescue work is quite extraordinary and we are deeply moved by the way she has defended dogs who are abandoned, kicked, chased and hit by cars. Many of the dogs Arijana seeks to help are now in boarding centers where they await adoptive homes. Others are still on the street, but receiving her care.

Puppies at the St Francis dog orphanage in Romania had their vaccines this month thanks to all of you! It's critically important to protect the dogs in shelters where disease can spread like wildlife. These dogs are now safe and will have the opportunity to be adopted to good homes.

Please don't keep your rabbit in a hutch. Rabbits make wonderful pets and should be able to experience the thrill of hoping, jumping, snuggling and sleeping without fear of predators gathering round their cage.
