LOVE FOR KITTENS FOUND IN A BAG IN SARAJEVO
Today volunteer Edina Pasic made an 8 hour drive to retrieve two newborn kittens. Only yesterday the kittens were found tied in a bag. There were four of them and all were soaking wet. Despite best efforts to warm them, two of the newborns perished.

ONE LITTLE TOWN RAISED $1,350 FOR UKRAINE'S DOGS!
We had an absolutely incredible surprise last week when we heard from a Canadian man named Marc Baur who decided to do something BIG to make sure that the animals at shelters in the Ukraine will not be hungry or cold this winter.

SQUIRREL WHISPERER
Eight-year-old Sabrina shows off one of the boxes of acorns she has collected. The nuts will become winter food for squirrels and chipmunks under the care of a nearby animal rehabilitator.
At a young age, Sabrina has already participated in the care of numerous foster pets and helped in the management of three feral cat colonies.

SWEETEST CAT UP FOR ADOPTION: MASSACHUSETTS
Iris was rescued earlier this summer and has brought tremendous joy to her foster home in Central Massachusetts. This absolutely gorgeous cat simply can't get enough petting and is so easy to please.

HUSKY FROM TURKEY NEEDS NEW ENGLAND HOME
For several months now, two adult Huskies lived their lives in a tiny pen, with no shade in the blazing Turkish summer sun and their only joy came from volunteer Manuela Wroblewski who provided them with food and water. The owner of the huskies used them for breeding purposes but never took care of the adults and the 8 puppies that soon appeared. There is no law enforcement for the animals in Turkey. No authorities will help.

13 DOGS LEFT BEHIND IN SARAJEVO, RESCUE UNDERWAY!
We received an SOS this week about 13 dogs in Sarajevo who are in big trouble. The man who rescued them fell into such debt that he's just given up. And now, the pension (boarding facility) is owed 2,000 Euros.
A couple of volunteers are trying to save the dogs from being dropped off at the notoriously brutal "public shelter" or simply released onto the street.
We sent 300 Euros to help, but this rescue is still a long way from the finish ...

TODAY'S GOOD NEWS: HAPPY MONDAY!
A Harmony Fund donation has just gone over to Boone Animal Rescue Coalition (BARC) in West Viriginia (USA).
BARC has been working on rescue for dogs ending up in the Boone County Pound and last year the rescued 700 dogs! Today we're helping with a donation to help kick off their feral cat spay/neuter program.
It's an honor to support the fine efforts of these wonderful volunteers.

FIXING THE WELLS
Next week we'll be helping the Alex shelter in Serbia to fix their wells.
"Recently, one of the wells broke down at the shelter Alex and the other well is about to break," shelter worker Andrea Sreiber explains. "These wells provide our shelter with water for 500 dogs and they are crucial."

MESSAGE FROM RESCUERS IN UKRAINE'S WAR ZONE

ATHENA FROM TURKEY IS UP FOR ADOPTION IN MASSACHUSETTS
Athena is a little refugee from Turkey. She came all the way from Avsallar and is one of the lucky street cats who is now safe after a very treacherous start. Unfortunately friendly stray cats like her are at greatest risk of being attacked by locals. Athena was too eager to approach people and ask for attention, and unfortunately that trust put her in harm's way.
