Man in Wheelchair & Dog Whisked Off Train Track Seconds Before Death
_________________________________________________ ___
Arno Hubert and his dog Nando were crossing the train tracks on New Year's Eve when the unthinkable happened. Arno's motorized wheelchair stalled.
Over and over again, the 64-year-old tried to restart the chair, but to no avail. Then, there in the cold morning air, the world took on an ominous silence. On the horizon, a train appeared.
It's times like this when we all w...

Today the mayor visited the shelter, and even brought a few large sacks of food with him. He thanked Sasha for caring for so many former street dogs and reiterated his intention to help the shelter relocate in a way that safeguards the dogs for the long term.

VETERINARIAN WITH A HEART AS BIG AS THE MOON
************* See All 12 Photos ****************
If we didn't know better, we'd swear that Dr. Osman has supernatural powers. He seems to float from one place to the next, instantly appearing by the side of animals who are very ill. One moment he's dressed in scrubs and leaning over the exam table to check the temperature of a street cat brought in with a bacterial infection. An hour later, you'll find him on his knees by the side of the road, gentl...

THANK YOU HEROES!
The Maine Warden Service and the Skowhegan Fire Department went out onto the Kennebec River to save a deer who fell through thin ice. The team stayed with the deer for a while, drying and warming her until they felt confident that she was fine. The deer walked away from the crew and they have every hope that she will be just fine. What do you think everyone?

FAMILY CHASES TWO CHICKENS THROUGH WOODS TO SAVE THEM
When a young Police Explorer spotted two chickens who had been dumped on a road in Snoqualmie Point Park in Washington state, he immediately phoned his parents for help. The family then began attempts to round up the very frosty chickens who clearly wouldn't have survived the cold night without intervention. After 15 minutes of zigging and zagging through a wooded area, the chickens were safely in hand. Both are reported to be doing just fi...

HERO SAVED COYOTE TRAPPED IN RISING TIDE
In Florida, a coyote found himself in danger when he became trapped under a private boat dock. After being chased out of one back yard, he was terrified and tried to hide under the dock. Unfortunately, the rising tide threatened to drown him and he simply couldn't get himself back out.
The water was dipping up against his nose by the time David Hitzig of the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary arrived on scene. David first used a tranquilizer dart to sedate the c...

Baby Dog, a Jack Russell terrier had to be cut free by Boise, Idaho firefighters after getting his head stuck in a steel pipe while out on a walk. He was out with his guardian Melissa Tabor, who was on horseback, when he worked his way into the pipe. Terriers do have a natural tendency to plunge themselves into tight spots while on a scent trail, and little Baby Dog had the unfortunate luck of getting into an unusually tight squeeze. Thanks to Boise firefighters and the good people of the West ...

IT'S WARM AT THE CAT SANCTUARY!!!
Thank You All For Buying Fuel
Last week so many of you chipped in to help provide the funds to bring in a delivery of fuel to heat the Felix cat sanctuary in Serbia. Well, the gas came in over the weekend and now the cats are toasty warm and so is their devoted rescuer Danica. This sanctuary offers a home to former street cats, many of whom have significant injuries and illnesses. Without Danica, the cats would be lost.

MOVE THE CAGE-FREE SANCTUARY FOR 450 DOGS?
Many of you are asking us about making donations to help relocate the free roaming dog sanctuary in Serbia that is under threat of Christmas eviction. We do believe the sanctuary will ultimately have to move. What we're trying to do right now, is to buy some time.
It's highly probably that we'll be asking for help to start moving the sanctuary soon. That project will take months and a significant number of donations. We do hope we'll have your help a...
