"This is Ella. She was found on the side of a road in this current condition. A very nice lady brought her to the Dirk’s Fund Golden Retriever shelter to see if we could help her. She was only 34 lbs. You could count every bone in her body. She had to be carried to the scale and to her dog bed because she had no strength. She could barely keep her head up. "I had just pulled out of the grocery store parking lot when I noticed two small dogs standing by the side of the road. One of them was a little tan mixed breed wearing a black collar; the other a matted little grey Shih-Tzu. At first, I thought they belonged to a man walking down the street, but he simply ignored them both and walked on by. Suddenly, these two small dogs decided to cross the road in heavy traffic. I jumped out of my truck and I called out to them. The little brown dog t...

A neighbor began feeding him once she noticed that they were no longer letting him inside and he got getting skinnier and skinnier. She set up a cat house on her porch and he was happy for the warmth it provided. She fed him and brushed him every day. She contacted Siamese Rescue, who came to evaluate him and he...

Julie Nuzzo, latest participant in The Great Animal Rescue Chase reports: "My husband and I have a one-half-acre property with a large vegetable garden in the back. The garden is surrounded by a fence that includes fold over fencing to keep out racoons, possums, etc., an underground fence to keep out digging rodents, and an electric dog fence that runs around the top edge. Whenever I find fledgling birds hopping around my yard in the spring and summer, I catch them with a butterfly net and pu...

SHOULD YOUR CAT BE POOPING ON A PINE TREE? This morning millions of cats will visit the litter box after breakfast, any many of them will be getting an unplanned dessert. On average, a cat using a litter box filled with traditional, clumping litter will later lick off 1/8 teaspoon of a dusty blend of bentonite clay, silica gel and fragrance crystals and some pet guardians are raising the alarm. Find out more about this issue and why pine may just be the solution. Read more: http://www.car...

"At the end of a difficult day when my big rig driving brother in law saw someone dump what looked like an animal on the side of a highway in the rain he quickly took the nearest exit and returned for it. It was a very dirty & tiny kitten that had made her way into the middle of a lane of traffic. Other drivers carelessly drove over her (she went between their tires) and blocking the lane with his truck was the only way he could stop them. Angry drivers honked and made rude gestures as they pass...

Zariguim Was Shot 9 Times In Head & Saved By Angels
3rd Oct 2012, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase

It's hard to imagine what kind of monster would deliberately shoot an elderly dog in the head. Zariguim was shot 9 times and ran for his life. He couldn't see from his injuries and ran to a highway and was struck. It looked like the end, until a couple of angels arrived and began gently talking to Zariguim and wrapping him in a blanket. They would take him to a place where abused dogs forget their pain and live like champions. Read the full story here http://www.care2.com/causes/dog-shot-in-hea...

Written by Tina Marco (Manama, Bahrain) "I live in Bahrain. In this country, animals have no rights and most children were not taught to be kind to animals. One day, we were driving around with a Bahraini friend, we saw a group of children dangling a kitten from it's tail and hitting him. This friend of mine took the kitten away from the children as obviously the kitten was in very bad shape. It had eye infection which could eventually lead to death and by the way he would eat food, he seeme...
