WOMAN RUNS 30 MINUTES THROUGH TRAFFIC TO SAVE BUS STOP KITTEN
"Following a job interview with a former co-worker, he offered to drive me halfway home, and I gladly joined him. He lives in an apartment downtown, in a legendary street called Braga which has endless row of hotels, pubs and other sorts of night entertainment. The location is surrounded by one-way roads, and since it’s the city center, the street and the surrounding areas are always dense, if not tightly packed. The problem sta...

Kelle Mann Davis captures more lost and homeless dogs in a month than many dog catchers do in a year. Honing in on Houston’s 5th Ward, where the number of street dogs has reached epic proportions, this former ob/gyn nurse gave up her career helping deliver babies from high risk pregnancies for an equally engaging passion, and people who know her often question whether or not she has something more than luck on her side.
Over the weekend, Kelle was driving on US 59 in Texas when she happene...

"The new year had barely begun when I got a telephone call from someone asking if they could borrow one of my dog traps to catch an extremely skittish stray dog. When I arrived the next morning, this poor dog was nowhere to be seen, and the wind chill was now horrifically below zero. I immediately assumed that this homeless canine was now hunkered down somewhere out of the wind..."
Read how rescuer Ed Kostro of Illinois used roast beef, salami and fried chicken to save this freezing dog. Con...

This dog spent 5 months siting in a massive field of dirt. No one could catch him though many tried. People would leave food and water for him in the dirt, but the dog would not budge. When one woman, visiting her sister in California heard about Buddy's plight, she made it her mission to get him to safety and caught the whole thing on camera. Enjoy! http://www.care2.com/causes/after-5-months-in-dirt -field-delicious-rescue-unfolds-for-dog.html

Last night we trapped Twinkle.
She's a semi-feral kitten, about 5 months old. She's letting her foster mom touch her a bit and we'll be working with her to socialize her for adoption.
She's the third cat we've trapped from that colony this month. Do you see that she has two different color eyes? Such a beauty. Thanks to all our supporters whose donations help us with all the veterinary costs for these cats. http://www.animalrescuechase.com/

Just wired the final $4,000 to the Ukraine to purchase the land for the wonderful new shelter for DRYG ("Friend") animal shelter. At last, the dogs and cats will have a safe place to stay and the rug can't be pulled out from under them. Thankful tonight to all of our incredible supporters who made this possible.

DEER ON ICE:
We got involved in the rescue of a deer on the ice today. It's not uncommon for deer to wander out there or get chased by coyotes. This one seemed to have lost its footing and couldn't get up. The deer is now safe and recovering but this is a good reminder to all of us to keep an eye on waterways this time of year. Wildlife do get themselves into trouble from time to time and it takes skilled rescuers, in this case the fire department, to undertake such a complex rescue with special...

10 Signs Your Pet Need to See the Vet (revised link)
Most pet guardians recognize the obvious signs of a pet in distress and would seek veterinary care for all the obvious signs of illness or injury such as bleeding or an animal who can not stand. But what about the more subtle signs that your pet needs help?
