WOMAN RESCUES HUNDREDS OF TADPOLES FROM POOL PUMP Reported by Kathleen Quinn of New York Photos here http://animalrescuechase.com/rescue_showcase/story .php?id=1125 My neighbor was away for a month and hadn't opened her pool. I was listening to the beautiful chorus of the tree frogs who were living under the cover. One day the pool guys arrived and started pumping the water off the top of cover. I ran over to try and retrieve these frogs only to find the guys spewing thousands of tadpoles ...

IN POURING RAIN, ONE CAR STOPS TO SAVE DRENCHED DOG Written by Vena Cava of Tennessee (USA) I was heading to my night job as everyone else was rushing home from their day job. There was a thunderstorm going on with lightning, thunder and buckets of rain so I hoped there would not be a wreck as there often was at a major intersection. As I stopped for the light, to my horror, I saw a black and white dog right in the middle of the intersection, frantically running up to moving cars as if trying...

Windsurfer Ed Coyne was able to grab hold of her in the water and lift her onto his board while others got the attention of a passing commuter boat driven by Adam Cohen of North Berkeley. The dog has been seen by a veterinarian and checked for a m...

NEW YORK SUBWAY SHUT DOWN TO SAVE 2 KITTENS! On Thursday, authorities cut power on two Brooklyn subway lines for more than an hour after a woman reported that her kittens were loose in the nation’s largest subway system. The kittens were seen running dangerously close to the high-voltage third rail. Their owner rushed to a subway station with cat food for transit workers dispatched onto the tracks to use to try to corral them, but the kittens disappeared again. They were finally discove...

MAN USED KNIFE TO CUT BLUE HERON FREE Report by Greg Goodmacher of California www.HarmonyFund.org I noticed a great blue heron on the other side of the river while I was cutting bread and cheese for sandwiches. Even though we were less than fifteen yards apart, the still bird did not seem concerned by the presence of my wife and I. We had found a perfect spot along California’s Russian River for a lunchtime picnic, and the presence of this large, beautiful bird increased our enjoyment. Wanti...

MEN CANOE IN DARKNESS TO SAVE TRAPPED DEER! Reported by Tammy Geerdts of Wisconsin http://animalrescuechase.com/rescue_sho wcase/story.php?id=717 My husband and I came across this large buck as we were walking our dogs through a parkway near our house. It was the middle of the day and the deer was half submerged in the pond. We got a closer look and realized he had something wrapped around his antlers and it was trailing about 100 feet behind him. It was a white, nylon strap. We ran home...

GORGEOUS BALLS OF LIGHT FALL ON LEOPARD http://www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/help-us-feed- the-wildlife-facing-starvation/78580 In the Zimbabwe bush, a trail camera recently captured a series of photos of this magnificent leopard standing over its prey. The balls of light that surround the leopard are more significant than you might imagine, because these little orbs represent the few drops of rain in a land in urgent need of water. The leopard paused and watched hopefully as the sprinkle of r...

Written by Victoria Tillman More PHOTOS Here http://animalrescuechase.com/rescue_showcase/story .php?id=1136 I was helping a friend feed her animals while she was out of town. Everything was going great until one morning when I walked up to her front door and saw a little blue blanket laying on her porch. I then saw a posted note stuck to the front door that read: "Hi I found this cat abandoned and abused. He has a sore on his front leg. I am hoping you can help him. I live down the street. P...

Born in Avsallar, Turkey, these two cats are waking up to a sunny morning in New England. Emily (calico) and her son Cookie were born in a community where their odds of being stoned to death or poisoned were at least 50%. But things are getting better. The volunteer rescue program in Avsallar is thriving thanks to project leader Manuela Wroblewski and veterinarian Dr. Osman. Hundreds of cats and dogs are fed, sterilized and treated for injuries. Some of the lucky ones, like these sweethearts, ...

"HE'LL TEAR YOUR FACE OFF!" Extreme Eagle Rescue Written by Randy Brady of Utah, USA On a rural two-lane highway, we came around a bend to find several cars pulled off the road and a crowd of people gesturing at something in the road. As I approached, I could see that it was a Golden Eagle, standing on one leg, stunned and unable to move himself out of harm’s way. I came up behind him, gently covered him with my coat and picked him up, taking care to cover his talons. People were yellin...

By Carol Koleman of Utah I was walking along the beach in Naples, Florida under a full moon at midnight when in the near distance I could hear a strange flapping sound. I moved toward the sound and came upon a stingray that was stranded on the beach, several feet from the water. The flapping sound came from her wings as she frantically attempted to get back to the water, but she was getting nowhere and the water was too far away. The bright moonlight glistened off her as I approached her cau...
