HALLOWEEN WEBS CAN BE DANGEROUS! This Western Screech Owl became entangled in Halloween netting and was found hanging upside down right outside the front door of a California home. “When we opened the door he just hung there and blinked at us!” the homeowner said. The Marin Humane Society was called in and a humane officer gently snipped away the fibers that tied the little owl to the porch. The owl was then taken to the wonderful wildlife experts at WildCare in San Rafael. Hall...

MOTHER CAT & KITTEN TO BE REUNITED TODAY! After 3 weeks of trying to trap an illusive kitten who fled during a late night rescue when a humane trap malfunctioned, last night there was finally a sigh of relief when the final kitten was caught. The cats had been living on the grounds of a meat market and we were first alerted to the situation by someone who reported that there had been threats that rat poison would be used to exterminate the animals. Though we could not confirm that threat, ...

PUPPY FOUND IN GUTTER GETS GOLDEN NEW LIFE! On a cold March evening, my family and I were driving home from a family get-together, when I saw something moving in the gutter. It almost looked like it was being blown, but then I could see that it was moving with purpose. I asked my husband, "What is that in the gutter?" He looked over and exclaimed, "Oh my God, that's a PUPPY!" We were at the corner, so he turned and pulled over. I grabbed my coat, and got out. The puppy was terrified, ...

WOMAN SAVES FOX FROM HUNTERS AT GARDEN GATE! Reported by Sarah Hockey I live on the edge of a beautiful park in Liverpool, England. Last winter was the coldest I had ever seen, with lows of -19 degrees and a ton of snow which stayed for weeks, transforming the landscape. One morning, as I opened my front door to take my dog Rocky for a walk, I had the pleasure of seeing a fox run past and into the garden. Seconds later two men with four dogs went running past me too. I knew immediately why t...

WOMAN LAUNCHES 'MAMA BEAR' ATTACK ON SHOPPER WHO LEAVES DOG IN HOT CAR www.HarmonyFund.org All too often people will see a dog in a hot car and do nothing out of fear of making a scene or confronting a possibly combative owner returning to the car. But when a Connecticut woman found a tiny dog panting in the front seat of a car parked in the sun, she had only two things in mind - saving the dog and making sure the driver would never leave a pet in the car again. “I came out of a store and h...

IN POURING RAIN, ONE CAR STOPS TO SAVE DRENCHED DOG Written by Vena Cava of Tennessee (USA) I was heading to my night job as everyone else was rushing home from their day job. There was a thunderstorm going on with lightning, thunder and buckets of rain so I hoped there would not be a wreck as there often was at a major intersection. As I stopped for the light, to my horror, I saw a black and white dog right in the middle of the intersection, frantically running up to moving cars as if trying...

MAN USED KNIFE TO CUT BLUE HERON FREE Report by Greg Goodmacher of California www.HarmonyFund.org I noticed a great blue heron on the other side of the river while I was cutting bread and cheese for sandwiches. Even though we were less than fifteen yards apart, the still bird did not seem concerned by the presence of my wife and I. We had found a perfect spot along California’s Russian River for a lunchtime picnic, and the presence of this large, beautiful bird increased our enjoyment. Wanti...
