ISPCA together with a group of volunteers from UTAR has paid a visit to a cattery (shelter) located beside a beach in Penang. There are 2 catteries, namely NaNa Cattery and Cat Beach and there's a total of 400 cats. Like most of the shelters, they are having insufficient funds to operate their shelters.
Volunteers together helped to clean the place and ISPCA donated 40kg of cat food, to temporary solve their food shortage problem.

Perak Mca Questions Ipoh City Council Over Shooting Of Dog 27th May 2019, by SPCA Ipoh
IPOH: Perak MCA has questioned the Ipoh City Council on its standard operating procedures (SOP) after its workers shot and killed a stray dog here.
Its Public Service and Complaints bureau chief Low Guo Nan said they were not allowed to do so under the Animal Welfare Act 2015.
"So do the enforcement officers have the licence to kill? It is only proper for the council to explain in detail their SOP to the public now.

Today, ISPCA volunteer, Ms Joey Foo as usual, went to feed No.2222 (Please refer to our recent post regarding Stray No.2222). However, she heard construction workers there that there are a few puppies under one of the construction-use waste bin (Roll On Roll Off Bin) nearby and it will be removed tomorrow. They are afraid that it will hurt the puppies.

Still remember this furkid?

On 18th September last year, this stray gave birth to her puppies in the house conpound of a malay family. At first this kind family helped to take care of them but due to lack of experience, eventually they asked for help from ISPCA, to temporarily gave them shelter and to find adopters for the puppies. Ispca Was Notified By Ipoh City Council Mbi Regard.. 3rd May 2019, by SPCA Ipoh
ISPCA was notified by Ipoh City Council (MBI) regarding an operation to capture strays in a shop house at Bercham. There were multiple complaints by residents nearby that there are a lot of stray dogs within.
When we (ISPCA) reached, officers of the operation were seen placing the strays inside cages. Together with a few officers from the health department, we managed to get some clarification regarding the operation.

Why do we choose to 'Release'?
Animal shelter only serves as a temporary stop for strays. Strays entering ISPCA shelter at most will only be kept for 6-8 months. Within this period, we will try to find them a forever home. However, if there isn't any adopters, we will send them for neutering (Under TNRM Program) and then released back to where they were found.

Some Of The People Might Feel Unpleasant And Even .. 2nd May 2019, by SPCA Ipoh
Some of the people might feel unpleasant and even dislike when it comes to 'Strays'. But nevertheless, there are still a group of volunteers who willingly spend money on them (Feed them, send them to vet for spaying, adopt them, etc). Only a small percentage of these strays are lucky enough to receive such treatment due to limited volunteers who have the time and effort to help, there are still a lot outside that are in need of our help and care.
