A recent WWF study has found that the Bornean elephant population in Central Sabah is actually less than its previous estimate due to methodological limitations in its previous study. Though this does not drastically change the overall Sabah population estimate for the Bornean elephants, prudent measures should be put in place to safeguard the Central Sabah elephant population.
